Over the years I have met many people who identify themselves with family values. Some of them actually care about the relevant people. Others don't care about the people, or the culture, but they'll do what they have to do until their friends die and give them the money, or power, whichever is leftover. Air-conditioner Music / Mnemonics

I was forty-years-old, when sat down (because mental math isn't very good any more) to analyse the structure of the temperature configurators on common air-conditioner remote controllers.

Here's the math :

- - the typical controller allows for settings from 16C to 30C

- - this is divisible into three brackets of 5C each

- - - 26 to 30 C, median 28C

- - - 21 to 25 C, median 23C

- - - 16 to 20 C, median 18C

So these are the fundamental pivots.

Complacency and its Discontents

As one goes through life, people may tell one, one is :

- okay

- smart

- polite

- lucky

- successful

- of character

- wealthy

- attractive 

It is an error to take any of this to heart. The only productive vector is to identify what is missing and improve it.

Don't Shy Shy

A note for my friends, who suffer quietly. Don't be so polite la. You know ah, this whole culture of "don't wash laundry in public", is just there to allow criminals to flourish, right?
