Policymaking for National Unity, in the Context of Special Rights

Case Study :

Recently, Malaysian trains have created special cars which may be occupied only by passengers who identify as women. In situations where the women-only cars are less congested, passengers identifying as men have asked why some women continue to occupy inclusive cars.

Abstract Concern :

Again, all policies based on the concept of special rights are structurally divisive to a common identity. This is just math. The issue to be addressed by policymakers is, GIVEN such policies, what other policies can be enacted to maximise the concept of a common identity?

Disclaimer: I am not questioning the divisive policies, or saying we should not have them. 😛

Modern Degrees of Spreadsheet Competence

  • 0. WYSIWYG features : pivot tables, charts, filters
  • 1. bult-in in-cell formulae, without array syntax, e.g. {x,y;x1,y1}
  • 2. built-in in-cell formulae, with array syntax
  • 3. modern ( Google Sheets only ) SQL programming in-cell formulae, with query()
  • 4. modern ( post 2010 ) functional programming in-cell formulae, with lambdas
  • 5. scripting ( ex-cell ... lol ... programming )

Nitpicking on Fallacies in Autism Culture

There are many, in plain sight. I expect to update this post as I gradually collect dialogue or remember to pen down personal observations.

People who self-identify as 'autistic' seem to have a misunderstanding of whether certain traits would be considered relevant to a diagnosis of 'autism'. There are actually three parties involved in these misunderstandings.
  1. professional diagnosticians
  2. lay-persons who use the term 'autistic' differently from the first party
  3. people who might be subject to the term 'autistic', from either or both of the first and second parties
Sometimes a person belongs to both parties 2. and 3., and this is where complications arise. But these complications seem to feed strongly into autism culture ( the culture of people who self-identify as being autistic ).

Further banter :
  • Premise 1 : failure to acknowledge social rank is an insufficient criteria for diagnosing autism
  • Premise 2 : there is a correlation between diagnosed autists and incapability to perceive social rank
  • Premise 3 : you have a thoughtful rejection of social rank

... ergo ...
Corollary 1 : it is wrong to assert, that the diagnostic criteria for autism misinterprets 3. as your incapability to perceive social rank
Corollary 2 : it is more simply the case, that 3. is irrelevant to any diagnosis that you do, or do not, have autism

Further banter :

yes, my entire point was about the identity politics and cultural tropes of autism. Anyone is free to  identify as an 'autist' but as the scope of that group expands wider and wider, it loses its relationship to the original definition. Similar to how in gender identity, folks of any sex can freely identity with being 'man', to the point that 'man' no longer corresponds to 'male', and that's ok. With regards to autism, the gender identity which spins-off from the clinical classification, however, uses the same word for both, so this is bound to be controversial as each group will bicker about who gets to use the word, and in what context.

AI's Share of the Labour Market, in the Near Term

In 2024, I still see senior executives who believe that AI will hit blue collar jobs first. This is a horrible error to make. AI will wipe the deck with 20% to 70% of low-end white collar jobs, first. The only white collar skills that matter for humans :

  • 1. Governance, i.e. control-as-communications.
    • 1.1. Executive judgment on legal standings, i.e. fiduciary duty. Boards and managers have a lower margin of error available, once there are fewer other humans in the system to blame.
    • 1.2. Stakeholder management, i.e. designing and operating systems over motivation and emotion, of investors, talent, and others. A board needs a minimum of one layer of executives underneath it.
    • 1.3. Grand strategy, i.e. macro-to-micro designs and their implementions, will be drafted more and more by AI. However, humans will continue to fill in the gaps because of (1.1.)

Ultimately, AI will be governed by the same laws as humans, because the incumbent legal environment which treats humans as black-boxes will apply to AI more and more. So in the end, governing machine people is not going to be very different from governing meat people.

When I began my study of commerce in 2006, I quickly learnt that I was only interested in board-level jobs. But in order to do those well, I needed to have experience of how run operations flawlessly. This will not change, with AI.

0349 : More distractions : my friends asked me to apply for this NAIO/CEO job - and I don't know why they would consider my profile, but now I have to go read up on what this is all about. Hadn't updated my resume in 10 years. Shoved (relevance) at the top. I am still a competent corporate cocksucker.

Took two hours to sync things up and dump in a token application. Now I can forget about it and get back to work.

1205 : up, 80% on target

1307 : Enforced waking, feeding, exercise, and reading.

1321 : Late down, and late up, and perhaps under fed. I took food before isometrics, and caffeine before carbs. Hmph

1324 : It would be a poor choice of CEO to pick someone with strange and public political views. Hence I do not think I would be a good candidate for a government agency.

1608 : Massive intellectual distraction late yesterday. Tried to clear it quickly, but slept late, and woke under target. Working memory still too fragmented for heavy reading. Not supposed to be doing heavy reading this week anyway, but I need to turn my time to something productive. Still a bit of lingering DOMS, so I am avoiding heavy weights again, in favour of more swim drills for the day, I think. Time to drown.

1742 : After a bit of fast freestyle, breast stroke for two sets of five loops around the pool. So over half a kilometer?

1819 : Diet is currently more stable than training. I still have unpredictable DOMS from upperbody activation. Ruminating.

2156 : i should start mapping out a running loop near my old home

2344 : Been about ... 19 years since I started doing calisthenics ln the bedroom floor, at the house my parents were living in when I graduated. Nice to think about it now that I have my own bedroom, and isometrics are back on my schedule.

0028 : Physical changes in the past year :

- right hand bone spurs, perhaps from construction other manual work

- rough skin on ass, from floor sitting by the pool

0101 : I'm quite impressed by how little I have changed over the last twenty years. My last major paradigm shift was beginning cultural anthropology in 1999. This progressed my professional confidence through till the end of research in college around 2004. Since then, I have been focused on enjoying retirement as an over-educated/enlightened person. I have acquired more skills, knowledge, employments, body counts, whatnot ... but these all pale in comparison to my earlier achievements.

0108 : Perhaps if live another score or four score ... either I will persist in not having done anything new and truly interesting, or I will actually get back to doing work I enjoy with less regard for commerce and society.

1027 : up, 93% on target, neural tone has been good while sleeping, serotonin high, peripheral muscle systems tensing intermittently without spasm, with good haptic feedback; protocol yesterday involved protein and carbs immediately before bed, before that were fruit, vegetables, mecobalamin, and isometric stretching, calibration of knots between core and digits, and before that was heavier food, fats, carbs, after endurance swimming, a pathetic 280m distance.

1530 : Pretty scary time for me. Longest I've been off the job market and potentially only 15% done with this phase. Good to meet up with other folks to see that their lives are still carrying along normally.

2149 : Malaysian PM hints at the removal of government subsidies for public education, for the rich : This is the correct communication strategy. After the focus is placed on affirmative action for the poor, there will be a focus on removing affirmative action for the majority race.

Thu 3Oct2024, Sabbatical2 @1.521years ( year2; month19; week80; day555 )

0024 : It is an empty season. Greatly profitable for many, but not the folks I have spoken with recently. I suppose, the world is a mixed bag.

0045 : My mind is greatly divided.

Oh, but that was the point of embarking on further studies, wasn't it?

0208 : I think a lot about the time and money I've spent, on helping others achieve momentary happiness, even if that is rooted in their pursuit of some as-yet-unattained goal. The cost is pretty large over twenty years. But, the privilege to have had no pressing alternatives has also been large. I am always of such an orientation, but time and money are shorter, as things go by. Since graduation, I hadn't once made earning money a high priority, until I made global macro part of my key study subjects for the current sabbatical. Even then, I'm not sure that making money follows from braining global macro, but one has to start somewhere.

1011 : Full day of maintenance and charity. Big yawn. Still sleeping and waking too late.

1115 : up, 90% on target

1259 : Botheration. OS reinstallation day again.

2336 : So much junk in my working memory right now. Charity work involves a bunch of poorly written laws and their implementations across the country. Various friends worried about this or that issue or other person. Hm. Perhaps it is just a slow season for me.

Fri 4Oct2024, Sabbatical2 @1.523years ( year2; month19; week80; day556 )

0102 : Interesting. The majority of this year's challenges are unresolved regret. But then it might just be that dietary experiments make everything else harder to predict. Time to flick the switch on resolution. Problem identified, solution already in inventory.

0315 : Note to self :

- ok to babysit pathologically cranky people for months and years

- ok to do homework for retards

- not ok to get hurt in the process, even if it makes them feel better

Lol

0524 : BMW XM : I actually like the way this looks. As a Malaysian, it reminds me of the Axia2 visual direction but with corrected proportions. It's 1.3 M MYR btw, here :P won't be getting one soon.

1651 : Recycling day. The context switch seems huge : displacing memories of how biochemistry happens, and replacing it with the physics of cloth. Such is housekeeping.

1952 : Persons Approximately TIL

2121 : Feeling good, with progress today. But not healing fast enough. And not turning-over minute-to-minute memory fast enough. And not learning fast enough. So, back to focus on speed. Neurology, neurology ...

2134 : Calisthenics with EZ-curl + 10kg. Taking it easy today.

2359 : Day 559 was a good day, mostly because I cleaned my flat. I should have done it 45 days ago, but whatever. More space to think, better late than never.

Tue 8Oct2024, Sabbatical2 @1.534years ( year2; month19; week80; day560 )

0118 : Lifting weights at home. I did it after college, and had a great time working out.

Nearly twenty years later I get to do it in an optimised home of my own. It is a privilege to retain continuity of mind over such periods.

Maybe it will be another twenty years before I am done learning about finance.

0130 : down, late as usual

0753 : up, 65% on target. many dream exercises. before waking, a wide and deep river behind a friend""s house, full of mildly scary fish. after hydration at 0700, awake with eyes closed, studying the visual field from behind my eyelids, instead of simply ignoring it. thus establishing a base for day dreaming. good. simulator got lots of exercise today.

Pre-sleep protocol was favourable : 3.3g butter, two eggs, seeds, were in the final meal. Fish oil as usual.

0804 : Reminded that the main benefits of exercise is hyperesthesia, which increases baseline stimulus of the mind.

0845 : Some people are useful. But all people are boring. So moderate accordingly.

1517 : Death and despair are horrible. Natural catastrophes are horrible. War, is horrible. Life is horrible if you're unprepared. Otherwise the universe is neutral.

The central banks however, go brrr.

2107 : napped. then Did a 5km at 6min pace. Much reduced AMS. Gonna focus on speed over distance, as it seems more efficient, and maybe better for bulking.

2135 : Butter without eggs. Today we test the C15:0 hypothesis. Also doubled greens intake to 200g, hopefully not an interfering factor.

2322 : Every time Grab goes on a vainglorious PR campaign, I cringe at the mediocrity of the regional tech ecosystem.

0046 : nobel prize goes to neural networks, yay. The worse thing about this is, human memory is an inefficient implementation. Now it is trendy to use that inefficient pattern at scale at great cost. Folks will wise up eventually and be more selective in their implementations of software objectives.

0223 : I have lived most of my life, full of disgust at my fellow men. And so it is only slightly more nauseous when they make things as pathetic as themselves, but half as efficient, and think themselves small gods.

0840 : up

0930 : Awake. Much to do. Ordinary quantities of leverage to do it. Basically impossible. But if it was predictably successful, why bother?

1002 : Comments from a post about WB's data on Malaysian unemployment, and whether university certification is of value.

1.

Institutional certifications and networks are for individuals without intrinsic value, to gain trust from others. The government has rarely focused on the intrinsic value of education. Don't know about what was before my life time 😉 I am only 40.

2.

OP responded that 'intrinsic value' has no meaning to HR bot filters. Employment is also overrated. But if someone has no intrinsic value, they must seek employment, yes?

1056 : Managed to clear inboxes, breakfast, and social comms surfaces before 1100. Yay. On to reading about biochemistry.

1117 : let's continue butter protocol tests for a couple more days

1127 : Mnemonic revision : anodes are positive, as steroids build UP ; cathodes are negative, as cathode rays are electrons.

1221 : coriolis force : There's too much noise about this in pop-science, and pop-culture. So I need to sit down and brain it today.

1235 : Quick note : need to spend a bit more time thinking about exercise outcomes along the axis of hyperesthesia/hypoesthesia.

1254 : Interesting note on choline and pulmonary surfactant

1541 : Neurons. Finally, at long last, getting down to neuroscience. #hello2003

1712 : late day break and miso soup, for extra salt.

2000 : My childhood jogging route has been upgraded with modern Sentul energy.

Now the anehs are like :

2022 : Pretty disgusting when professionals take money, dis their clients for immorality, then publicly claim the moral highground for themselves. It appears to jeopardise fiduciary duty. Just don't.

If you take money to do immoral things, then do them properly.

You may choose not to enter into such arrangements at all.

2023 : ran, ate, back to napping

2039 : Every so often, some fool will visit you with the idea that you must interpret your own actions according to the language they prefer. If you didn't agree to in the first place, just tell them to gft.

2145 : Time to eat again. Being human is full of stupid rituals.

1542 : On the laying of bodies and buildings, to rest : When the function of the preservation is a formality, then the form is sufficient for the functionality of the preservation. There's no need to be sentimental about specific geographical coordinates, or their superposition with specific atoms and molecules.

1139 : Human consciousness is just an information system.

What observations about how men and women miss things differently, seems to tell us is that men have their dopamine (goal-achievement-reward) circuits more sensitised to imaginary memory.

Women have it more wired to present experience.

Would be a fun hypothesis to test 😎

1304 : Emotional intelligence empowers people to sensitise or desensitise themselves at will. EQ is not partial to any one level of sensitivity.

1405 : desert : Fun. After a few years of studying built infrastructure, circling back to study unbuilt environments.

1429 : physiology > finance > electronics > math

it's going to take me years to catch up :P

1503 : From discussion with a friend : it seems as people grow older, they may progress from spin-lalas to pickleball aunties.

1556 : Today's tactic is, higher cadence, lower pace, longer run.

1637 : Recently wrapped up a job application process, initiated by some friends. I hope they learnt something from it, as it was an expense I would not have bothered to incur on my own.

1847 : Run6. Probably the most disciplined run ever. Metronome at 180 bpm, mostly compliant, so about 1,000 step-operations. For each step, when autonomous control veers offbeat, conscious control is despatched to some of a dozen muscle groups to correct autonomous failure. Such micromanagement! #jerngvstime

1916 : In general. I would say that much of the art of making money is about acquiring and trading secrets. That's politics, thus boring. I may work on that more, some day, but meanwhile I remain focused on common knowledge.

1926 : TIL Saltburn is a Little Mermaid fanfic

1934 : I remind myself not to be sad when stupid people are happy. While it is a reminder of how pathetic the world is, it doesn't improve anything to regret their existence on behalf of the universe. So i shall save the thought, and focus on my own work

0130 : Modified a tripod to hold my phone, for a video stream of a local government townhall tomorrow. Feels like my whole life is a hack

0157 : Relative to the uncertainties of my youth, I am an advanced being. But in comparison to the final state of possible development, I am only beginning. And it is sad that others who have achieved only a fraction of my work consider themselves successful. Everyone aims too low. Myself always.

1132 : From a chat about xenophobia in the Malaysian context. Most countries are dumpster fires. Those that are not, have to trade with those that are, anyway. The reason I don't change my citizenship is pure laziness. But just because you live in a country, doesn't mean you have to stop complaining about the dumpster fire. 🔥

1231 : Self-reliance is the simplest way to happiness. Regardless of somatic or social state, if one decides to be so, so it is. But this is unachievable for many. So many will remain forever in structures of fear and fawning among others.

1401 : Asset allocation strategy : apparently I'm still taking too little risk with asset selection, and underweight cash to compensate. So riskier asset selection skew, and more cash, probably is the way to go next.

1535 : Break.

1635 : On a friend's advice, got Bumble Premium since it's a ""lifetime"" validity for like ... 17 days worth of food, haha. Been putting this off for a while, since there hasn't been a lot of cash-flow for social life. But got tax returns recently, ordered more SPI yesterday, and checked that most of my supplements are in stock, so WTH. Chill day, long term amortisation of expense.

1221 : Cute time to revisit the thesis that net of all actors ... the US helped to spur conflict in Europe, prior to its own ascension as the global leader. #boundlessconspiracytheories

1404 : Interesting how life leads you on. I couldn't be arsed about how weather systems work. But I'm studying finance, and investors care a LOT about how weather systems work. So I've got a fifty articles lined up on horse latitudes, the Hadley cell, and cyclogenesis, over the past few days.

1424 : Some feel the US economy is in a hole, right now. I don't hold this view, since I live in a much shittier part of the world.

I would consider, gravely, the contingency that Kamala is going to lose. Trump is going to win. A second Trump presidency will properly throw things off balance, and make things much shittier, before a lot of people swing to support the Dems.

Or it might take a few more cycles. We're in very lukewarm territory right now.

1642 : Time to feed. Then back to reading.

1755 : Meditating on fatigue. Breadth-first traversal is a perilous route. Scouts are disposable. And while most people enjoy the support of social counterparts whom they trust, I have not met many candidates of interest in this category. So, a nap will have to do, every so often.

Fan pulses slowly, regulated. Rain floods the city below. Waiting for administrators downstairs to return from lunch. Perhaps a good day to refactor the sink in preparation for more machinery. Stuck in first gear since May. Grind away.

1446 : Ordered semi-synthetic 10w30 for the oil Kancil. Hope I don't regret it.

1940 : Day 567 : coaching myself to be pickier about what I think about.

0117 : Late to bed, as usual. :(

0133 : OK. I have found one thing in my life worth regretting. I used to think that I didn't need to work in AI, and some other schmuck would work out the details so I wouldn't have to bother. But in recent years I see these clowns rolling out such horribly energy-wasting work that I've become more interested in getting my hands dirty so that perhaps, if they haven't figured out how to write more efficient code, I'll get around to doing it myself.

1156 : billionaires weilding undue influence : one's chosen vocation : gaming

The game is arbitrarily designed. The design at any point in time is the best guess of what government designers think to be efficient for optimising government outcomes. When gamers play the game by the rules and arrive at outcomes which are not what governance designers intended, then the onus is on designers of governance to design better governance parameters.

1615 : Physical conditioning is taking a backseat to memory conditioning these days. Memory conditioning priority today is to ... think about physical conditioning, so off we go. LOL

1738 : Current weakness : 60m loop freestyle. Need to work on multiples.

1206 : A piss upon people, who depend on food for their feelings. Not quite a genocidal comment, since tis the season for such analysis. Whereas I reserve my preferences for the eradication of emotional uncertainties from the genome, I do not believe it means we have to kill individuals. But we can move civilisation in the direction of such improvements over time. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

1247 : citizenship amendments in Malaysia : What should be understood when a constitutional amendment passes 206/207/14/1. Party whips work in cohesion for expediency, expedience makes the government of the day look good. But FWIW, it make anchor structural problems for future generations of government to deal with.

1333 : Some people work hard to be rich.

Others work hard to be funny.

Alice has admirable qualities.

1640 : Admin, admin, admin. Droll day.

1741 : Each person sets out daily to remake the world in their image, and that is all there is to life. Some, regardless of success, are resentful when they feel that the future of their culture is threatened. Others accept that their culture may or may not survive, and that is not something to be emotionally invested in, as investments in operations are more effective than investments in sentiments about operations.

1834 : Risk-management today is distributed very thinly across a half-dozen peons. My IQ has dropped to the point where all I have head-space for is refactoring furniture. LOL

1849 : It's good for members of society to affirm the lives of others, even when they lack relevance to oneself. But if one spends excessive energy propping up poorly designed and implemented traits, then one simply extinguishes one's own work retrogressively. A pity. If only there were unlimited resources to put each individual in their own little playpen, but I suppose that will be easier with AR/VR and AGI in the near future.

1942 : Farewell mediocre fucks, banned. Haha. I guess my environment consists of various useless things, which I entertain because I am lazy. Most of these things are people. You can't change people, so if the net stress from environments is too high, you adjust everything else. You can avoid unnecessary people.

2355 : Refactored furniture and got more space back. Didn't work out today. Thick piss. I hope it's not diabetes too soon. Haha

1623 : sabbatical 2, day 571, hour 17. The whole point of the enterprise is to celebrate weakness, and pursue correction. 2 laps down, more to come.

1812 : top percentile KL pay said to be 65k now. Cool. In which case my asking price of 35k doesn't seem irrational. It is a pity I don't know any jobs I would rather do than study at home. Haha.

2144 : The pool water is very clear today. we have been working with the management to get the contractor to increase chlorine dosage. This means the water is also harsher. There was a near miss ... I found a turd, in a tissue, by the pool. Over to security to catch the culprits on CcTV, if at all.

2233 : Ok, I guess folks in this town don't understand ""ENM / monogamy"", so we'll dial it back to ""open / closed relationship"". Profile updated.

0055 : Low on produce. Need to get groceries. Refactor, refactor. Hectic week, but contained. Also, late to bed again.

0152 : Work progresses slowly, but on many fronts. Familiar exercises are easy ... I started running thirty years ago, and I just got off a decade of doing manual labour ... so running 5k or pushing weights around doesn't take much intellectual effort or more than 30 minutes on a good day. Learning how to swim, however, is a huge cognitive effort - there's loads of permutation which I haven't worked through, and my brain is still poor at capturing all that data effectively. The bottleneck is at capture, as I seem to.be able to analyse kinesthetic issues fairly quickly. I just can't maintain hyperesthesia once my cardiovascular system starts shutting down kinesthesia. So maybe it is just a matter of getting more cardio in. Work progresses slowly, but on many fronts. Familiar exercises are easy ... So instead of 8 to 12 hours a day of solid desk work, I get about a quarter or a third in if I am lucky, and then I study kinesthetics. Throw in chores, admin, and local government concerns, and I feel rather unproductive fairly often. But that is an illusion due to the breadth or the attack. Or so I tell myself.

2046 : Today I discovered that one of our senior administrators actually believes in ""unwritten rules"". This is an individual in a role supervising the issuance of fines for regulatory non-compliance, and an overseer of private agencies for communicating legal and executive policies. It took a good quarter of the day to prepare an example of the work expected of them, and to submit it for their consideration.

I don't think it's generally effective to do other people's work for them, or to give them examples unless they want to learn. So I don't know where this is going. We shall see.

Terrifying lunacy.

1728 : Fed. Increase arginine dosage. Sense memory audit. Then to decide what is next.

1852 : Well, at least now I know what taurine is good for : H2S synthesis

1938 : Sulphur. Sulphurous amino acids are used to make glutathione\GSH in the liver. The liver upregulates production with physical activity, and down regulates production in sedentary individuals ( upregulation is less pronounced with age ). GSH is the reduced form, and it sits around in cytoplasm, where it is reduced to GSSG to neutralise reactive oxygen species, and then recycled to GSH. The GSH:GSSG ratio ranges from 100:1 to 1:1, and is an indicator of intracellular oxidative stress.

Glutathione metabolism is affected by taurine and H2S.

Finally, I have some lead on the short-term benefits of exercise on general cytoplasmic metabolism, along with a couple of related items.

0003 : Every day, I wake to a boring world, full of boring people. And I think, maybe I should play with them. But I haven't yet found a game, that we all want to play. So it is not often that I play with others. Nevertheless, I have not yet accidentally expired. So I must accidentally proceed.

0040 : (Sezter made) A wise choice. Life is futile, and it is better to spend time with people you can appreciate, rather than people you can't appreciate. Anyone who devalues his experience, deserves worse.

Why? Of course this was challenged. Look. The botco is going bankrupt. The mother is going to be sad. The audience is shocked. There is only one happy person in the entire fiasco. Celebrate the small wins.

People who fear bots, are like people who fear people. They think someone is out to get them. At the end of the day, one either accepts one's life experiences, or rejects them. The concept of other people wanting this, or wanting that, is popular, but irrelevant to the person who has decided to be happy.

I talk to people every day.Stuff I've written has been in public for years. Intelligent people find things to read, they don't wait for them to become popular. I suppose the exercise of anthropology and philanthropy as a matter of socialisation, business development, and overall risk management ... should be approached with a mind for resource management to avoid burnout.

1424 : Charming observation that most automotive fuels including rocket fuels are basically renewable, but expensively so.

2016 : Some incredibly irritating Malaysians are angsty about the minimum wage rising on average 5.5% yearly, to about $4,700/year now.

Businesses that can't afford monthly workers will reduce to daily/hourly pay.

I fully support the government in pushing up the minimum wage over time. Businesses that cannot handle it, deserve to go bust. The businesses that survive will be better. If the private sector won't improve itself, the government goes in with a flamethrower to burn all the chaff. See what the ecosystem does.

Conscious memory is activated with a feed. Relative to the unconscious state, it is esthesia, hyperesthesia. But the motivation to get up is hyperalgesia, and a stiffness of musculoskeletal structures which is alleviated by movement.

This is very interesting: it appears that to some degree, in a healthy person, stiffness is part of the mechanism which stimulates movement.

Maybe it is just a cycle.Of course, it also requires the availability of energy in muscles, and responsiveness of muscles to nerves, and the MNS working as expected.

1140 : Awake. 80% on target. Pull-ups have been an enjoyable exercise. Next for squats. But, first a load of chores and deskwork.

1419 : Cleaned up a mistake I made yesterday. Daily mistakes, daily clean-ups.

1504 : Giving up on finding a canonical name for cheap apartment blocks' architectural style - going to just call it ""pastel brutalism"" since the geometry is brutalist, but the facades are not.

1548 : Back to control surfaces, for fund accounting, and performance management.

1641 : Still bothered by the broad emphasis on neurodivergence when most human differences are cultural.

1730 : Stressy week, but at least the market is up.

2042 : Napped. Enforced eating. Then back to the desk.

2048 : TOTD : crypto crashes spike the supply of STY treasuries, driving yields up, thereby sucking in more money from all other asset classes.

Sun 10Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.625years ( year2; month20; week85; day593 )

0150 : The one ... maybe the only ... good thing I learnt from studying the management consulting industry in

0323 : late to bed again

1117 : up

1310 : Recently came to my attention that Anwar Ibrahim is a huge fan of logogenesis. You can about the neologisms that pop up in political discourse every few years. Malaysia is a young country, and Bahasa Malaysia remains a young language with many pidgins.

1455 : Market pressure to sell, increases by the day.

1458 : Got to that point in life where I'm using cell borders to draw wormy lines between different parts of a spreadsheet.

1608 : MgCl2 is moving the needle today.

1614 : Interesting freestyle training set.

25m sprint

25m distance

25m distance

25m chill

2006 : work for boards, or on boards. Everyone else is just there to waste your time.

Mon 11Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.627years ( year2; month20; week85; day594 )

0143 : good exercise. 19 investibles, two asset classes, five sectors, simultaneous long- and short-term holding periods, 5ish staggered limit orders per investible, and 1-week swings of 20% being common. very interesting. good for training intuition. and maybe i will get to automation in the near future, or i will not.

0220 : I have a friend who enjoys asking me to explain myself over and over again, about things I have decided upon in the past. Sometimes I have the energy to respond, and sometimes I don't. Generally, I do make a minimal effort to explain to people that the secret to happiness is casually disregarding what other people think about what you do, unless it infringes upon something of value. ""All things are interesting"" - policy is the job of sorting and destroying the lower priority items - it's just fascism.

0249 : Sell.

Portfolio's up about 30% in a week. Cash position is about 16%. I need to be at 35% by now.

0317 : ""your body my choice"" : Just point out it's not their choice. Rebut and move on. Another one of millions of idjits making claims they can't justify or won't defend under duress. Haha. Just shoot the offenders.

0413 : I became the person I am today, roughly between the ages of 14 and 21. At 14 I had already found social leadership to be predictable, and by 21 I had found that society does not train its elites to actually understand much beyond industry and sundry, whereas I had exceeded such limited studies.

That, however, sent me down two decades of having to explain to people why I disdain them ... or without explanations, simply adjusting my minute to minute conformance with whatever level of politeness has been acceptable for the manipulation of others.

It is tiring, but that is civil society. On we go.

1155 : re:myth of ""marketshare is not a moat"", Inertia is a moat. Dense and small things, and less dense but massive things, are harder to attack unless you have a small and very dense startup.

1208 : 12H progress : 21% cash. Another 12% to go ... will study this shortly.

1514 : Someone needs to draught a Corbusian kampung house with a roof garden.

1538 : Strange time for exercise, but it fits.

1655 : Active management of intracellular volume via K+ and Mg2+ dosing. Ascended to yet another level of nutjobbery

Tue 12Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.630years ( year2; month20; week85; day595 )

0109 : ""Inflation"" refers to ""marginal nominal price increases"" ; low-income voters aren't concerned about ""marginal nominal"" price increases, rather, they're concerned that ""1-2y real"" price increases should be ""zero-ed to match 1-2y real"" wage growth. ""Dems brought inflation down to 2%,"" is the wrong messaging.

2118 : Very sedentary of late. Need to commit more time to hanging from the bar.

2143 : I have this problem throughout my life. I am happy. I aim low. I overachieve. I get confused.

2252 : Whoops. Broke the TV. That's a hundred days of food, haha. Guess I'm not so smart today. Switching to spare monitor meanwhile.

0025 : I should practice capex austerity until i generate more cashflow.

0208 : I suppose I should stop doing therapy for free when I'm not on-track to make a buck from it.

0224 : Review of last 36 hours. Felt ok going through it. Usual political inconveniences. But objectively performance was shit. So, I will make a point to reduce political annoyances.

0246 : Perhaps time to actively shift the path of my society, from daily dances with dunces. Not that I have a specific plan. But it is an interesting policy consideration.

1130 : up

1240 : Foresight was spotty yesterday, due to a rather dense field of live sensory data, from hypertrophic hyperalgesia. Gotta figure out how to better manage this risk.

1917 : Super messy week, against the baseline of an extremely well-ordered routine. Against the baseline of a hectic small business, this would be an ordinary time, I suppose. nap time then study time

2046 : Getting ready for everyone else to sell the news - expecting XBT to devalue, and everything else to devalue even faster. LOL. And I'll change my mind in an instant.

Thu 14Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.636years ( year2; month20; week86; day597 )

0022 : I've been working alone for the past 590 days. My social including commercial networks are nearly 100% online. i wouldn't call myself a professional in the chartered sense, though I have bodies of work done for hire over the past two decades. i only profess to be a student. At the age of 41, I worry that I will not be able to keep up with the communications ecosystem around me. But I think I am doing OK for now. Always shifting sands.

0034 : it is said that FedFund Futures are poor predictors of the FedFund rate. No, that doesn't sound right. What seems to be the case is that we're interpreting FFF prices wrong. Something else is priced in, which isn't on the label (yet).

0109 : I'm in this FB group Guess My Ethnicity. It's a tremendous aid to studying geography. ""From Moscow to Bishkek"", is my new favourite quip. (Kurylenko fanboy here.) Almaty is really pretty. Pity about the corruption index score.

0130 : down

0650 : Awake with the local economy today. Tires on the freeway, mosques, and sunlight, are the sigils. Also the plodding steps and draggy chairs of an upstairs neighbour.

0710 : Sometimes I get annoyed by the glorification of mediocre fucks, in a mediocre economy. Then I remind myself to keep a more consistent distance from common sensitivities.

0714 : Enforced feeding. desk work

0732 : A cute phenomenon that happens from time to time.

1. I meet someone in a humble setting, early in their career.

2. I meet them again shortly after, and they have forgotten that we met.

3. I meet them again many years later, and they remember the first event.

Perhaps people are just living in the hectic moments.

0839 : Unpopular opinion : GRAB is overdue for a major rebranding. The era of trying to look cute is over. Needs to position itself somewhere between V and AAPL.

If I see another glory, glory, Anthony post on socmed, I'm going to puke.

0900 : Oh, Ilham Tower (2015) is a rip-off IM Pei's BOC Tower (1990). LOL

0914 : Back to fundamental studies.

1414 : i tried ""italian"" treatment from pasta .... upon rice instead ... it seems to work ok

- raw garlic

- EV olive oil

- dash of italian herbs

2009 : Check positions. Get groceries. Try to feel better, in a painfully boring world.

2024 : There's probably a very simple calculation that tells me how fxA's and fxB's share of the fxAssetClass changes in relation to the fxAfxB pair.

But first I need to get to the runcit for veggies.

2142 : Maybe it's time to follow in the old man's footsteps and subscribe to the Economist. Or just jip his password.

2337 : Today's exercises were mostly arithmetic in nature. Some social drama. I am less sick, after a half week, and hope to resume harder physical conditioning tomorrow. At least I didn't break anything like a TV today :P

Fri 15Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.638years ( year2; month20; week86; day598 )

0050 : End of day. Final rations down. Time to shower. Then some time to reflect on ops.

0113 : A high privilege. The luxury of a room to study in. The darkness dimly lit by what makes its way through cheesecloth curtains on the balcony. Tires sound on the street. Up and down. I think about my hopes in life. One of them is, that I will encounter admirable people. However mostly I do not meet them. So I work on myself. Good evening, to all.

0152 : More effort should be put into getting rid of anxious people in my life.

0230 : The biggest gambles are taken with time. A decade is kinda a long time. Wonder what will become of it.

0939 : up

1043 : Awoke. Locking in.

1216 : My understanding of the asset class has improved slightly over the year. I am going to the kitchen to prep food now. Probably a jar of protein powder needs to be mixed.

1526 : After 1.5 weeks of portfolio drama and physical illness, time to go back to abstract studies.

1756 : enforced feeding. back to desk

1852 : Might be an interesting business to get into for the coming decade ... hospice and old folks home ... I'll start looking at the regulatory limitations.

It's basically built-environment ... get to run a mini-town.

If the price is low enough there's got to be a 100k tenants over 10 years, maybe even government subsidies. Super curious now.

Based on very quick Googling, there exist charity home which take in abandoned old people, until their funerals. This totally answers a personal question for me ... what happens when I run out of money, and brains. Haha. I'll just look for a charity.

1930 : Trying to figure out how to understand the overall structure of global sovereign debt

1934 : Ah, shit, I might have previously overlooked the role of Mg and Fe in nerve function.

0930 : awoke. wash, eat, desk.

1459 : The amortised hourly minimum wage right now is about MYR 2.083. So $2.24/hour is a run-rate of almost 5x MW.

1626 : The inability to learn things is a sign of fatigue. So it is time to rest. I find it timely to work on my dating profile, as the existing texts have not been completely rewritten in years.

Draft :

I am happy living alone, and have been happy to die alone also. For diversity, but on a lower priority than the items above, I don't mind having social partners, who have also achieved a similar level of self-satisfaction. If you are a self-satisfied woman, who is looking for conversational and physical intimacy, then let's get coffee to check each other out.

I am open to a monogamous relationship, if it proves to be sufficiently rewarding. But until proven, I would regard that as an overcommitment ... so you should be comfortable with the notion that while we are seeing each other, I will be seeing other people also.

Currently I am planning to study physical conditioning, macroeconomics, and electronics, until 2032. I am also interested in : law and business, fashion, art and architectural history, geography and cultural anthropology, international politics, home economics, construction, fabrication, math, science, engineering, and frugal living.

1953 : Very boring day. Maybe I took too much capital off the market. I shall think about it while I hang on the bars.

2046 : When people around me complain, then I wonder if I am insufficiently charitable by classifying as uneducated plebs those who do not practice emotional regulation. It is probably more charitable to say, we have cultural differences. Maybe it will irritate them less.

0003 : GS spins off its crypto unit;TSLA+8%, IXIC, GLTR, TOTAL : risk assets are up, today

0045 : ice coffee as a cola replacement, is doing well

1139 : Blackout scheduled. So, I will visit the national library nearby. Lived here but haven't been there in my 41 years, I think.

1717 : Not happy with my asset allocation today. Going to give it more thought. first visit to the national library also. Not happy, not happy, not happy. Not a lot of time to think about it, as I did two meetups and one exploratory trip outside today.

0101 : Dealing with pricing uncertainty : when assets are underweight for too long, and market prices haven't moved, I'm now trying to gain weight at the rate of ... 3-5 fund-bips/day until minimum weight is attained ... typically about 70-80 fund-bips.

Thu 21Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.655years ( year2; month20; week87; day604 )

0055 : coffee with the evening meal has been a welcome return. but it only works efficiently with a sufficiently tired body, so, exercise must interpolate. pullups and squats are fine these days.

1120 : up

1300 : I'm definitely too shy to be a professional trader. Minimum effort management of a small asset base, will have to do for now. And I still get anxious at only 43% uninvested and 2-3% daily swings in the invested portion.

1324 : My appreciation of the stoic mindset : society is generally full of fluff, but that generates 60% of GDP at a minimum.

It is a rare accident that some economic pressure drives people to care about innovation.

Most people are stuck worrying about emotional happiness, family, friends, and things that will never matter beyond their own private lives.

1627 : Lazy asset allocation : consideration : with 18 assets in the universe, I could reduce my cost averaging unit size. At a unit size of 4 fund-bips/0.04% that's potentially 25 allocations/1%, which might even trigger on a busy day. However, given that most days aren't that busy, I should probably expect an average of like ... 3-8 allocations i.e. 0.12%-0.32%/day, which is considerably slower. Ok. No change to LAA units size. Haha

1810 : Part of the pressure for Tun M to keep writing in defense of his past, is because the further along history progresses, the greater the share-of-voice that is occupied by those who have had net-negative views of his life's work. Oh well. Such is a man.

2156 : Some reflection is due after a hectic sitting. Map and reduce. Most study is worthless if there is no reduction.

Fri 22Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.658years ( year2; month20; week87; day605 )

0940 : Sleeping more flexible hours these days, since exercise on the monkey-bars does not seem contrained by office hours.

1142 : The main bottleneck for decades has been the quantification of human experience. The computation is easy, it is the qualification of datatypes which has caused so much stumbling over the last century.

I worked on this in college and was very happy to figure it out for myself back then.

1201 : Today, epoch daily return is at 0.0338%. Next level 0.040%.

1555 : Aphorism on risk management : Life is a constant cycle of creating unnecessary risks to alleviate boredom, and a deleting necessary risks to dodge stupidity.

1807 : IDK. At this point the numbers feel like :

... long SOLBTC as a leveraged proxy for BTCUSD

... long AltsETH as a leveraged proxy for ETHUSD

1831 : break time

2232 : go to market

2345 : New positions. Half in, half out.

1020 : Time to add all architecturally interesting buildings to my Google Maps. Maybe some warzones too.

1301 : dailies : fund ... 0.0439% ; next ... 0.050%

1442 : This is a very sensitive time. But it seems the 1D RSI should wobble back into normality within a few days, then it will be business as usual. RSI at 1M, 1W, 4H, 1H, etc. seems fairly normal.

1926 : Up a trillion, down a trillion, what's it to the rich. I get the sense that fatigue is sweeping the scene. Could be a whole week of quiet tension until options expiry.

Sun 24Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.663years ( year2; month20; week87; day607 )

0200 : The best way to help people : in such a way that they do not realise they are being helped at all.

0205 : MSTR : the equity vehicle has been a hack around asset class mandates. As the asset class gets upgraded by investors over time, the need for the vehicle disappears. The premium on the equity vehicle over the underlying asset, is just the implied time-value-til-mass-adoption of the underlying asset.

1208 : Meditations on defense.

1628 : Curious. A scattered mind still makes time for social life, personal intimacy, community service, local governance, national politics. However, it is not clear if one is able to learn effectively at work. Thoughts must return to work.

1820 : Periodic meditation on who, what, and how to derisk.

1922 : today, in dances with plebs, doji candles

1944 : Fortnightly sale of stocks for food :P

1501 : Music. Music is stupid, and most people are stupid, so we must study music. If you want to have a smart lens on music, you have to regard it as what is called 'hunting oscillations' in STEM. ( technical analysis )

1037 : Poor advice : ""Focus on raising gross income, not on reducing gross expenses.""

Better advice : ""Focus on treasury strategy, not on unifocal adjustments to the top- or bottom- line.""

1407 : A lull in the market. Perhaps time to catch up on reading. First, an examination of sensory processes.

1549 : Run time.

2048 : Practice makes perfect. Perfection is not a specific form, but the limit of a form as it approaches its destiny.

Something I thought about while engaged in sundry commerce today.

2101 : Down 6.2% in 1.06 days, but somehow still beating the benchmark by 0.8% over the same period. Cute.

2209 : I was talking to an old friend about a project they are working on. First, I am loose with my notions of friendship and aware that I am not qualified as a friend to most people. Since we are friends on Facebook, I shall just go with the term.

It is curious to me how people can identify with the people around them very often. Most of my life has been spent condescending in order to survive in the economy of plebs. Some projects are rife with divided stakeholder interests. A thing may not be what it seems, to each person who observes it. Metaphor of the elephant and blind men.

Nevertheless, it remains possible to help people with their goals, one at a time. That is simple enough.

2325 : Time for some extra dueD. The floor is getting very noisy again. It doesn't matter what I believe, as long as dueD is done.

0156 : I look forward to a society that has outgrown the need for souls

0205 : down

1153 : Leverage. The main way to sleep well is to be fatigued from hyperstimulus all day. The natural way to do this is to have a lot of physical movement. An unnatural way is to take a lot of stimulants. I try to get by with coffee, food supplements, and a bit of physical exercise. I feel that is still too leveraged.

1230 : Good morning, fund managers. Time for forensics. Yawn.

1251 : One of my current studies. It is my understanding that to make a political impact in Malaysia, you have to speak Malay - I have always thought very lowly of political activitists who mainly publish in English ( and I have told them as such over the decades ). Istilah Wang DBP

2050 : Did more research on the Malaysian Philosophy Society. Interesting developments, and good to see people get this off the ground.

2100 : 51% cash. Defense, defense, defense. While searching for opportunities to attack.

2303 : Three+ weeks into the season. Time for a break. I do need to moderate social spending though - been doing a ton of that. Probably just gotta spend more time now on physical conditioning.

Thu 28Nov2024, Sabbatical2 @1.674years ( year2; month21; week88; day611 )

0044 : Day 611. I had a strange thought, while dining with a friend, by the street. I now spend most of my hours in my flat, studying financial markets, living on military-esque rations. Sometimes I don't even remember that I live in a third-world country ... until I drive out, or have to do local commerce.

0327 : Day 611. Fund run rate 0.0478% ( regression). Next target still 0.060%. And now 52% cash ... I feel underexposed.

0524 : Retreated to 70% cash after a sector-specific rally.

0631 : down

1610 : Is it time to buy yet? Hm. I thought the market hadn't moved much since my retreat 10 hours ago. Now I see a bit of red. I am looking for more support to break down. Then I will look into this in more detail.

1612 : Two coffees, one without milk, today at an established chain : cost 4.3 hours minimum wage. Cost of parking, 0.9 MW-hours. Nevermind the cost of transportation.

Well done, Malaysia.

1743 : I find that society generally isn't interested in discussing why staying alive is a matter of idolatry.

1809 : I should schedule eating diverse ex-ration foods, once or twice a week. Otherwise my microbiome just completely forgets how to process random food.

2043 : Physiology is improving. My intelligence about nutrition, kinesthesia, and cognitive output is improving. But the droll conclusion is, maximum output depends on supernormal inputs. Maybe I shall have to embrace this.

2048 : Time to practice mental math. Very primitive stuff. Very useful.

2119 : Life among the lovers of soul and unquantified living, is a treacherous business. I still don't know what to do with humanists.

Hoi. Saya tak kutuk negara lain - satu saja negara yang saya berhak untuk kutuk. Hal negara lain tiada kaitan dengan hal negara kita yang secara cirinya sendiri adalah teruk.

0700 : BTC.D on-track to drop another 0.28% till inversion ... or, will be be surprised?

1440 : As a child I studied music, literature, art, and architecture because they were intrinsically interesting. As a business class adult, I study them only because they attract the attention of the rich and powerful. If I escape the realm of the business class, someday, perhaps I will actually revert to a childish appreciation of the same.

1443 : The ETHUSD and ecosystem prices ... paint like a setup for a murder movie lol

2028 : Unpopular opinion : They should just outlaw all these self-mutilation posts, where someone eats a stupid quantity of food. Nevermind even the lower food qualities ...

2144 : fibonacci retracements - more artsy mumbo jumbo

0006 : Repost in English : Cryptocurrencies are currently weapons of mass enfeeblement, implicitly allowed by states, in a passive strategy of mutually assured enfeeblement. There WILL be a time in the future when international treaties are signed regarding the use of cryptocurrencies, but I think it has not yet happened in a very structured way yet.

1543 : Endless posturing. Nature of the free market.

1600 : My English reading speed was about 4 - 60 seconds per page when I graduated, depending on the substance.

My BM reading speed is more pedestrian. I need to increase my BM reading speed, as long as I am living in Malaysia, I suppose.

1740 : nap and back to desk

1946 : Day 613 risk review.

- Diet may or may not be optimal. Ditto exercise quantity. Sleep quantity definitely underachieved.

- Studies may or may not be efficient. Learning bits, but not yet moving the needle by multiples.

- Market risk in a very volatile asset class. Wary of ambush, even though the asset class is moderately institutionalised already.

- Social risk in a very conservative, primitive economy. Many counterparties whose expectations for others may or may not be explosive triggers.

- Government risk. Never to be ignored, as all states surveil with different degrees of reactivity.

On we go, this little life.

2057 : I never thought I'd have to look at a 3M chart - but I guess some phenomena are meaningful at this level.

2149 : BTC.D is dropping with TOTAL still rising, so it's basically already 'alt season'.

Maybe just a preview as we expect BTC.D to pop soon ( sustainability uncertain ).

2309 : Period : benchmark up 28%, alpha 22%, star of the universe 500%, cash largely pulled back. Probably too conservative.

2346 : I wish I knew more admirable people. But in the end, I can only build what I think is missing.

1220 : Last month was quite messy. What I learnt from the experience is, I should be equally weighted among all assets in any sector, because the the sector will move together, but the small caps will return more than the large caps.

1428 : Financially unproductive week. Socially rather busy. I should pay attention to moderation in correction, so that I do not overcompensate in the week to come.

2112 : BOM, post holidays, EOYM, in between regime changes of marketshare. Cancelling all buy orders, and waiting to see what happens.

1807 : Asset allocation just prior to last regime change was 50% cash. Benchmark has now stalled under a ceiling, and asset allocation is 32% cash. Eking out return seems harder, but it could be a fallacy of context. I feel overexposed.

Couldn't remember what I learnt over the past month, so I had to check my journal. OK. Not zero. Subconscious has been fairly active, if dream quantity is anything to go by. Stratocaster riffs are playing in my head, probably as a result of the rock ballads from the weekend's concert next door and the Malay language practice in civil society groups. Consciousness has been in a tunnel, with little recollection of stress across the days. This may be a good thing. I would attribute that to adequate nutrition including stimulants.

However, I think cardio is understressed, so blood-pressure and oxygenation are not as high as they could be. I haven't cooked seeds in weeks, so diet has been high-carb low-fat. I should fix this today. Need to pay bills and order beta-alanine also. Maybe it is again time for groceries.

Looks like NATO :P ( Note however that 64% of Bitcoin nodes appear to be hiding behind the TOR network, so it could be BRICS for all we know. ) But in all likelihood, given the amount of governmental endorsement for cryptocurrency, it could just be the US deep state running black ops.

2123 : I am not comfortable with the role of fund manager. That's why I need more practice. Just like the roles of CEO, software developer, and historian of ideas which came before. No one learns anything from doing what they are already good at.

I'm very comfortable managing people, which is why I almost never do it. Had it figured out as a teenager. You can pay me if you need someone to do this. Otherwise in my own life, I prefer to learn new things constantly.

me : I already take care of someone else's kids - they're called staff

they : not like that

me : well, I evidently don't have a problem sticking my nose in someone else's shit ... now you see the problem with most people is that they feel better if they're sticking their noses in the shit of people whose genomes are closer to their own ... and that sentimentality is, in my opinion, foolish. I don't expect people to share my opinion, and I think most people would not, so it is simply a difference in civilisational ideology ... or what are commonly called 'values'.

0308 : Brian Thompson memes and opposition : putting taste into question seems to be the point of contrarian discourse 🙂

0858 : up

0935 : Enforced feeding. Lots to do for the day.

1248 : Brian Thompson's case reminds me of that time I was at KLCC Starbucks, when I noticed Najib sitting across the way once, after the Altantuya case. I considered my options, as any responsible citizen would. :) Trolley problems are useful, because they force people to consider facts of their indecision which they would otherwise prefer to ignore for the entirety of their lives. Sophistry is pretty much defined as 'feel-good conversations with few economic consequences'.

1310 : I had an overly comfortable childhood. Not particularly violent, not particularly amusing, mostly boring. Somewhat educational, but not comprehensively. I used to to amuse myself with fiction and art, but as I acquired a greater understanding of commerce, it occurred to me that most people are easier to manipulate than children are taught, and therefore, I should devote more time in my life to the manipulation of political economy.

1312 : Zoning out too frequently at my desk these days. Many opportunities for information overload. Good. To be engaged.

1422 : Over 25 years, I still haven't become as sensitive to the risks of sedentary behaviour, as I would like to be. Simply not maxing out cardio stress levels early in the day, results in a lower mean cognitive output.

1430 : Intuition not good. More practice required. Work harder.

1653 : Low sleep, high stress, poor judgment. Hm.

Anyway, I am glad that I am not able to follow-up on many projects currently - it tells me that I am saturated in terms of learning capability in the present. A question remains about how to moderate this to maximise total learning over all available time.

1139 : in a parents group on education, i shared the homer simpson hedge meme, where the text regarded gifted children turning into mentally ill adults. How many of you feel that your children may be neurodivergent on the economic upside? Do you think their social adjustment is fine? I would like to share as an adult hermit, it feels like one wanders around like a zookeeper, never sure of what the animals will do, while having a sense of responsibility to care for them. It does not always present as illness. Lol

1417 : Is there a group where people debate/peer-review BI <-> BM translations? If not, I may start one.

Background : DBP is not bad as an online resource, but their servers are very slow and the information architecture is not tidy either. Google translate can't even grasp classical BM, nevermind dialects from different geographical regions and social classes like text messaging vernacular.

My first language is BI and my third is BM - but I figure if I spend enough time discussing public policy on social media, I can get to parliamentary literacy in BM.

Recently wrote a comment that ended with ""Inilah antara kepiluan yang diputuskan bangsa kita."" which led to some Google translation efforts, but I found I still prefer the original phrasing.

LOL

1513 : Target : BTC.D is due for a pop to 65%, I just don't know when exactly.

If TOTAL2 is stuck at 1.45T, BTCUSD only needs to hit 111k to get BTC.D to target ( 57% today ). But TOTAL2 will pump when BTCUSD pumps.

Either TOTAL2 needs to be shaken out much further before BTCUSD pumps, or BTCUSD needs to hit somewhere north of 111k for BTC.D to reach target. The former scenario seems more feasible in the short run.

1823 : Many concepts were computed over the past week. A rest now, means more sensory study instead.

1924 : My working memory tends to be either hooked up to verbal memory or not. When working on semantic stuff, essentially desk work, latency is reduced between these operations. But simultaneously non-verbal memory is somewhat detached, and latency between it and working memory increases.

Much of 'work related stress' in my case comes from spending too much time hooked-up in verbal mode, without resting via explicit unhitching and returning to non-verbal mode.

Hm. I wonder if these mechanism get clunky as I get older, and then dementia separates one from the others entirely.

1238 : ""all success in business comes from relationship management"":Nothing new in this century, or the past one. The main reason I avoid spending time on commerce because I have no urgent need to take someone else's money. Therefore I have little need to surround myself with foolish relationships. Relationships are fun, but the base case should generally be a good life without relationships. Then there are higher margins albeit disposable ones.

2246 : Ah, made an error of negligence. Lost 2.5%

2024 : my studies overwhelm me. Lots of data, and not a firm enough grasp over the summarising concepts. Such are the markets in the mind of a junior participant. But, while I have not had the focus on hardware, physiology, and society, that ai wish to have ... I have allowed myself adequate moderations of investment in those operations also.

2358 : You know better than I do, since you do this for a living. I think the biggest downside risk is a <25bips cut on 18Dec, which would shock markets slightly. The possibility of a 10-15bips cut is interesting. But I do not see anyone considering it seriously with 90% forecasting 25bips in Dec, and a pause in Jan. Lol

Avoid vague adjectives. Use granular definitions. Set granular expectations. Those are the best relationship ads.

Lord knows how many millions of people wade through the other millions of people's profiles looking at weasel words like, 'serious', 'loyal', 'long-term', 'casual', 'short-term', etc. without actually being able to concretely define those objectives, as a set of terms and conditions.

The complaint has gotten so repetitive that I think the killer dating app is basically going to have to use AI or sim-gaming to train people in '300 common dating patterns : goals, strategies, and tactics'.

Without a fair trial, and any subsequent penalties, the act of bravery wold be worth less. More of us would just shoot people we didn't like. :)

0221 : At 41, shitposting comments on LinkedIn about monetary ontology, and finding out what people believe or don't believe about the world ... is probably the most fun I've had since I was 14, and in the class which got the most teachers to quit in a year.

0455 : Weekly alpha improved, but weekly total return reduced, as the market tracks the supercap as it closes an options gap. I'm still struggling to understand the nature of my work. So far I've been aware of one correct deallocation and rellocation early in the month. However I missed a minor opportunity shortly after that, and then major one over the past week. I'm searching for the right words to express myself about this ... but sleepy, is about it. Which is good, because non-anxiety means fewer distractions, and I just have to get to bed before resuming work on the available data tomorrow. LOL

0637 : I'm happy with the progress of my life MTD. Generally I try to keep the celebrations small, margins high, expectations low, and benchmarks high. It's a good life so far. When will it end?

0728 : 13.5% down. Most metrics within operating limits. But I should be able to systematically avoid this amount of repeat work. Maybe it's just a matter of sell/fire fast, buy/hire slow.

1434 : Portfolio dipped very evenly over the past week, between ETH and non-ETH clusters. I seem to be a little underweight in one sector, so I need to figure out which other sector to cut to strike a balance. Nice reset, and it would be nice to have +23% by the end of the month to hit a round target, but haha.

1440 : frankly, I think 99% of gold's value stems from animals spirits. Plebs like shiny things, so they gravitate to it with gravitas. To invest in the core BTC narrative without acknowledging this is to ignore the core factor underlying all investment on earth - fear that tomorrow will be worse than today. BTC investors are basically just tech-plebs. And we can make money of all plebs. So on we go lol

1717 : Portfolio rebalanced! I should stop-loss about 10% down from here. Looking forward to wiping out there, with an eye for the upside.

Phew! US GDP hawt!

0309 : I still don't understand yield curve dynamics, easily. The more I think about it, the more it seems that the price of debt further out than 6-12 months is really indicative of short-term sentiment, than usable as a leading indicator of long-term economic conditions.

1200 : Well, I guess finally, after the vacuum of celebrity murderers, the world finally got one for the age of social media.

1727 : There goes the Christmas firesale. Looks like a busy day.

2101 : Reflecting on my deficiencies. Main issue now is an error of over-diversification, and under-automation, resulting in cognitive exhaustion.

Yet somehow, I manage to enjoy a social life ... familiar partners, prospective partners, family noises about friends who need advice about scams, coaching members of the community on their personal analytical process and local government interactions, etc.

I suppose, by prioritising simplicity and happiness, I choose mediocrity.

0104 : I think I've broken my record for quickly I can lose 100k. In 2012 I was on sabbatical and doubled my money on AAPL calls. I figured it was too easy to just trade for a living, so I took a high-risk position with the intention of forcing myself to get a job, unless the position ended up in the money. I wiped out and went back to work for ten years.

Dropped the same amount in the middle of 2024, due to mismanaging my asset allocation. Took a few months.

And then there was the past eight days ... lol.

0151 : TIL : London is the FX centre of the world!

1242 : Up. Enforced feeding, washing, work, probably. No meetings scheduled today.

1443 : It has been a small joy to catch up on Malaysian politics and language over the past few weeks. Usually I mainly live here, and rarely do deep dives of what is happening in the public sphere.

But there is never enough time to do anything properly, if one is to do more than one thing at a time.

I only started catching up on quantified nutrition and financial markets, two years ago, with gradual increase in focus over that period.

I remain satisfied, but hopefully not too positive.

1557 : Today is for the study of bonds and small-cap divergence.

1605 : Todo : replace the freeweights in my rucksack with clothwrappedbricks.

0046 : I suppose, as a nerd, I have some form of hypoesthesia, relative to the mean. I have a lot to learn from the world, but usually I don't bother to simply enjoy the passing of sensation through memory. Enforced physical conditioning may help a little.

0117 : I once dated a young aesthete. She was my melancholy baby. We shared a mood. But we have few common interests. So that was not to be.

0146 : Maybe sedentary diet also reduces cognitive output.

0212 : Reddit was founded in 2005, the year I graduated. I worked in tech some years after that, but never had a reason to frequent the lifestyle sections of that forum. In 2025 I will probably finally have a reason to use Reddit frequently : financial market studies.

1255 : Bread, and circus; field, and mint.

1359 : Blakedoni + Slande => needs its own musical, ""I Wouldn't, Hollywould""

1506 : To confuse the most people : BTCUSD would do nothing until 20JAN, then tank. Finally when the GOP starts reeling in M2 via fiscal consolidation, it would moon.

2112 : I should probably study FX a bit more before I throw out more of these statements. SBR : If Russia does it first, it pulls down the BTCRUB, pulling up the RUBUSD.

If the US does it first, it's a dampener on BTCUSD appreciation, so that will keep RUBUSD under control.

2313 : Verbally tired, but underweight on proprioception. So today is about boosting calories, and physical exertion. Hopefully with the effect of boosting stable cognitive output.

0025 : The other day I thought my issue was over-diversification. Today I would like to revise my prognosis. I've been under-diversified. Too much time spent a desk, focused on a subset of the desk universe. Need to diversify within desk activities, and out of desk activities. No need to concentrate fund assets - those are already well diversified, and should not be consolidated, for now.

0608 : down

2209 : Done with social chores. Time to work on reading backlog.

0513 : Happy for some old friends who seem to be doing well at work. Whereas, having seen the quality of their work, I wonder which party to empathise with.

0622 : down

2032 : Another boring day. Time to enforce kinesthesia.

2134 : Weak. Dizzy from unweighted squats. Hah

Thu 26Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.751years ( year2; month22; week92; day639 )

0558 : fund reporting : historical P&L by asset : it's a good day ( for tooling )

 ( charts )

1407 : Awake. Back to actuate the world.

It may be harder with laws about speech. I was putting comments on a Pemuda PAS page today. Maybe misanthropy is the only clearly legal approach ... since we cannot dig into public criticisms of certain types of anthrope. LOL

2029 : Elliot waves : Oh my god, so much dance theory. But at least it's more useful than ... pickleball

2134 : Day 639. 17.51% of Sabbatical 2. Struggling to increase productivity. But very much buffered, and therefore probably just inefficiently balanced in terms of risk/reward.

2249 : Now I have lived almost twice as long, as it took me to run out of truly interesting things to do on earth. I am grateful for the extra time. Maybe the next lifetime shall be spent in this pretty little prison. We shall see how long I need to be.

Fri 27Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.753years ( year2; month22; week92; day640 )

0340 : Ventral musculature back in focus, to address overarching of the back, in desk position.

0442 : Trying to be less lazy, and execute active allocation today.

0619 : Nuked all positions. Back to 100% cash. Too fatigued to think about it much. 18 assets, smurfed to minimise slippage, then manual updating of fund accounting ... there goes two hours. Nothing is free in this world, I suppose.

0649 : good time for a break, i guess. helluva month. Family events are irritating on a weekly scale, if the purpose is to provide therapy for stressy people - takes up too much memory after the event.

1726 : Fatigued. But back to routines. One must condition the body.

1804 : Wake. Check proprioception. Check baseline anxiety level. Check markets and inboxes. Kill mosquito. Get out of bed. Wash. Dress. Shoot protein. Refill instant coffee jar. Turn on wifi and computer. Check more feeds and inboxes. Prepare to undo mistakes made, to-date.

Sat 28Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.756years ( year2; month22; week92; day641 )

0422 : Not sure which is more disappointing. My peers on earth or my ongoing attempts to put them in their place.

1525 : It's borderline amazing that Musk and Vivek were handed the glorious mandate, then managed to fumble it before inauguration. LOL

1625 : One might get killed today, or one might die tomorrow. But one thing's for certain, till the last day, we won't be short of people to disagree with.

1857 : Cognition lacking in proprioception. Ok. Punching it.

1935 : Gradual reinvestment. Hopefully not too quick. Rest and recuperate meanwhile.

Sun 29Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.759years ( year2; month22; week92; day642 )

0559 : doa. Perbuatan yang menyenangkan hati sesiapa yang tak senang nak gerakan kaki.

1504 : Rain. And aches. I notice that sleeping without hugging something relaxes ventral musculature, and puts my spine out of active management. Maybe I need to start switching up my sleeping posture to improve posture.

2038 : Thieves hide in plain sight, in humble businesses, in delightful displays.

Nurturers hide in plain sight, as terrifying scoundrels, as oppressive enforcers.

What can we know? Very little.

2111 : Gonna work on getting more sleep, to improve cognitive throughput, so I can get more work done sooner. What a theory. APM and APD do not feel very high.

2227 : A pretty simple approach to modelling my economy of cognition rn :

1. The brain has an ability to model spatio-temporal data.

2. This function is applied to different datasets, including proprioception, speech, and mechanics ex-vivo.

3. The more one thinks about the structure of speech, or mechanics of things ex-vivo, the less capability one has to think about proprioception.

4. In order to partition cognitive resources across these disparate datasets, one has to partition time for rotational allocation of compute time to each.

Ok. Gotta put this into practice more.

Mon 30Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.762years ( year2; month22; week92; day643 )

0206 : I have been reviewing the trope of human connection. Many people have an ideal of human relationships that involves emotional addiction. I disagree, and view that as a disability. I was reviewing also the final conversation I had with a fairly intelligent lady who was also successfully employed. The inability to flip a mental switch about one's emotional attachments, such that they can only be regulated by complete abstinence from stimuli ... that fault is part of the human condition.

0301 : Good sleep. Or nap, rather. Vitamined nap, to be precise. Usually I shoot v after waking, this past few months. Gotta flip it up.

0354 : Vivek's c-tweet is funny because it brings back memories for me. The first day I got to college in the US, I looked around and pretty much decided I was going to have to do a lot of solo work to get anything important done. This speaks more to my personal interests than any opinion I might happen to have about politics.

0404 : Time to feed. Nice rain this morning

1427 : Good afternoon. Monday. About half-done realigning circadian. Probably over-optimistic, we shall see. Asset allocation back in focus. Sniffing the air, looking for laundry issues about the flat.

1722 : on DBKL's post about traffic police and some recent activities.More practice in Malay. Not very careful, as this was tapped out on a phone over a cup of coffee. I hate typing on glass.

1. Tolong perhatikan 'teori tingkap pecah'.

Haraplah ibukota dibaiki lagi.

1804 : Social conditioning saturated. Physical conditioning continues.

2035 : I avoided exposure to the crypto asset class, until FTX crashed.

Maybe the next great entry will be after the MSTR and SBR noises have achieved regulatory cacophony.

2148 : Trying to understand how the Fed's RRP balance and the yield curve interact, via the Fed's choice between selling bonds, notes, and bills.

2254 : Time to smack some distracting work I took on from family sources. It's been getting in the way of ordinary work, by just sitting in queue.

Tue 31Dec2024, Sabbatical2 @1.764years ( year2; month22; week92; day644 )

0009 : Those who love conflict are destined for power. Those who avoid it are destined for compromise.

1407 : Sleep much improved with B vitamins and fish oil administered before, instead of upon waking. Perhaps also hygiene issues with caffeine. Well, keeping it mixed up

1414 : As a person of low ambition, I pretty much hightailed out the US as soon as I graduated. It was quite fun learning commerce and fullstack devops in a pressureless albeit poorer economy. Been in Malaysia since 2005. Pretty much chilled the whole time since!

Now STEM immigration and healthcare are back in the spotlight, so it is amusing to read the news and to compare my concerns in 2005 with others in 2024.

1512 : BTCUSD's price following a grid during low volume EOY period : Doing the robot walk ... _|^|_|^|_>

You live in the matrix, but someone else controls it.

1827 : Today I'm trying to write ( another ) asset allocation model. It feels like a creative writing exercise, because it is a matter of examining nebulous states and expressing them in terms of arbitrary lines drawn in the sand, which serve only as warnings to any who care to notice them.

1921 : After just over two years of trying to get an intuition for this asset class, I guess it's time to switch into quant mode.
