Patric Gagne, an author, is a self-identified sociopath, and defines that experience as having difficulty learning social emotions. It is noted that sociopathy is a literary concept, that is no longer considered scientific.
I don't identify as a sociopath, for the most part. I have had the privilege of both aptitude and training in the practice of social emotion. In fact humans are generally so predictable to me, that it is only challenging for me to study machines, as I have for the past 20yrs
I also consider myself abnormally capable, at turning on and off my operation of social emotion, to the point that I regard folks who can't flip-flop at will to be disabled. So while I don't identify as a sociopath, the notion of having fundamental control over one's own social emotional operations is an important part of my civilisational ideals, and I wish more people displayed that capability.
Maybe I should become a teacher.
