phenomenology of insulin

Insulin hypothesis.

Deprivation of somatic sensation during a sugar crash is part of a feedback loop which results in the experience of energetic states of mind.

1. This progresses through a phase where the imagination is slightly quicker in response than the body, a variety of daydreaming. In this phase, peripheral sensation is muted and one tends to be more preoccupied with thought.

2. After this phase, sugar levels are restored, and motor nervous reactions to conscious intent are quickened. At this point one experiences the transition from a relatively sluggish to a less sluggish latency.

The transitory experience is what people describe as feeling refreshed.

Note : I am not sure if the mechanisms of sleep including adenosine cycling, play into this. It would be good to find out.
