Yawn : Sabbatical 2 : Quarter 14

 "Wed 1Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.263years ( year4; month40; week170; day1191 )

0917 : Recalibrated my sleep logs to include any time spent lying down, even if stressfully active, such as writing and analysis on socmed. Expecting an uptick in sleep recorded due to this adjustment. Still chasing target here, but attempting consistency with 2022-2023 log format.

1026 : Always humbled whenever I intermittently remember that the people I grew up with, while they don't actively tell me this, have diverged in operationing assumptions from myself. I should bother them less.

1244 : ""Oh, I have been waiting for him to die for decades. I mean he is a sweet and valuable human being. However his actions are contrary to national interests.

I suppose the same could be said about myself.""

- discussing Malaysia champions

1255 : Each year for the last 25 or so, has been a delicate balance of empathy for people around me, and the study of things which do not concern them. Hehe.

1303 : Catching up on stupid esoteric stuff : CSS programming keywords

1328 : Each year for the last 25 or so, has been a delicate balance of empathy for people around me, and the study of things which do not concern them. Hehe.

1739 : Teatime chat with a local socio-political commentator whom I wanted to understand better. Filled up my car with gas, and got home before the real traffic jams started. Typically for me, 1 to 2 hour meetings are reasonably manageable, especially if there are only two of us at the table. Back in college, I could watch a movie like Closer once and then rattle off the dialogue, almost verbatim, but I think those days are past, as the volume of trash in my head has expanded since 22 years ago. For that I am blessed, as it reminds me that maybe I have not been completely idle. Anyway, the chat just now was a lot to process. I am currently deciding which bits are not so useful, so I can escalate deletion from conscious memory. I have eaten lunch, and must now pursue the chore of lifting weights.

1751 : semoga tanahair tidak lagi kecelaruan dalam perihal jiwa dan ekonomi

1828 : I always forget and have to remind myself, that I hate timid people. It's not about politeness, or class, or wealth, per se, but the emotional fragility. Maybe it was the country I grew up in, who knows. Malaysia is certainly full of people who are more concerned with status than wealth, and with wealth than capability. I am ALWAYS reminding myself to be nice to plebs.

1956 : I used to walk on my toe knuckles. Clearly over forty years ago, as merely pressing toe nails into the floor hurts now. Neural conditioning to follow, muchly.

2107 : Maybe my preference is for people who can control their performances across the extremes of three poles, on a minute to minute basis, with neutral bias.

1. excitation

2. aversion

3. nonchance

When I say I hate timid people, it's those biased to 2. I also hate excited people, who are biased to 1. Folks biased to nonchalance are generally boring of course. The middle path, naturally is an efficient traversal based on tactical requirements.

2141 : One day, producers will figure out that they are supposed to make superhero movies with effusive emotional dependency neuroticism romance between main characters. Pretty much what makes YA like Twilight and Barbie and Titanic go bling. Again it's not a what, but a how. Take the first few X-Men movies for example - tragic love story. But horribly scripted and acted. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️ You could literally have it rewritten by highschool students and it would have morphed into a romance drama.

2226 : I suppose it is mildly conceivable that after I complete my acquisition of understanding maths from top to bottom, I will still have time in life to become a billionaire or politician or artist or family-person or to bother to curate many friends. But since college, I have never bet on it. Maybe I have been too pessimistic about how long it will take to brain maths. One thing's for sure, I sure as hell didn't think it would take only a couple of years part-time thinking about how to quantify human experience to actually figure it out, back in college.

Thu 2Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.266years ( year4; month40; week170; day1192 )

0808 : Hot showers and exercise both stimulate immune function. Interesting.

Fri 3Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.268years ( year4; month40; week170; day1193 )

0146 : only a small joy, to have survived this long outside the pursuit of validation from peers. on we go, where shall it take us

0152 : a new friend asked what my passion was. i said i respond to incentives, bur i don't go looking for them, usually, as i don't feel a need to. seems fair

1124 : susahni cari teman di Malaysia :

- korporat tak sangat tegas

- gomen tak sangat lurus

- STEM tak sangat maju

- kesenian tak sangat bebas

- hati rakyat kemelut dan otak tersepah merata2

baik, aku kaji diri je : cerita berulang2 selama2 jangka hidup ini

aku hanya cauvinis

1904 : 31 hours, 450km, bunch of chores, mission done

2213 : Unlikely for me. but a 65k proton s70 turbo taxi sounds like a lot of fun 😎

2309 : I suppose, I still spend too much time on other people. Hard to say for sure. That's just life, I suppose.

Sat 4Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.271years ( year4; month40; week171; day1194 )

1034 : Time to get back to work. ho hum

1929 : Malaysia biasanya membosankan. Tapi, sedangkan hidup saya di sini, baik lah saya belajar sikit ciri2 penduduk kita ni. Bukan tiap tahun lah, mungkin setiap 20 tahun, 1-2 tahun boleh dipakai bagi pengajian kebudayaan Malaysia. Masa tak cukup pun kesian lah, Malaysia amat kecil dalam dunia. Banyak lagi bende nak dikaji.

2053 : At some point in the last 20 years of not-studying maths properly, I seem to have mis-remembered the notion that non-surjective functions are not functions. Anyway, undid that today. On we go.

2211 : Landlord racism in Malaysia: Addressing wide-spread landlord racism in Malaysia : There's probably a good business to be done here : create a branded service, where the landlord commits to racial-equality, by pre-signing a legally binding agreement PER-TENANCY to engage any tenant an agent finds fit. Upside : just raise the damn price .. the market is already cornered.

2246 : I think the liquidity limits reflect the opportunities available. Usually businesses with active global customer bases are not limiting their fund raising to Malaysia. Likewise businesses with predominantly Malaysian customer bases are not able to demonstrate why anyone should give them more funding that what is currently obviously obtainable in Malaysia. An amteur error in finance is to confuse the horizontal stage of funding, as something that is common to all verticals of liquidity - whereas the more accurate model is that horizontal funding stages are completely detached between verticals e.g. between regional markets. The real question Malaysian ""tech startups"", (which is a challenging title in and off itself) need to ask is, am I presenting an accurate series of (current income; current FCF; current new funding) triplets as a roadmap that any investor on earth can instantly make sense of.

2250 : Quite a bonkers day. Started with gym, and set up a meeting with a terribly uncommunicative party just to get it over with, but managed to set up another meeting after that which had been postponed forever, which was then reasonably productive ( the first meeting was congenial and unsurprising ). Then back home to review some elementary issues I am struggling with in maths. Then back to lifting, while I wonder if this will be my mortal coil, traffic jams, wobbly meetings, and ghostly concepts.

2356 : Malaysia is a tiny, tiny, VC market. If you're managing $1T you can allocate $10B, to VCs who will cut dozens of checks of $200K-100M to early-stage businesses ( vision, addressable market, founder-product fit, negligible income ).

Because Malaysia is so small, the checks cut at those sizes are actually for much lower risk companies : in the 2010s we saw Rocket Internet come in as a clone shop, and local darling Grab was a photostat of Uber from day one.

When I put 10% into a $100K raise for a business I ended up running for 5 years, it was a restaurant. We ran Asia's first 24-hour fast-WiFi workspace charging only for F&B, in 2015.

A PE guy once asked me, if you could raise $100K, why run a restaurant?! The partnership agreement had the operating hours baked in, and no attached profit margin. It was an incredibly high-risk low-margin business from the get-go, because I needed to maximise the risk I could get from the tiny, tiny, raise.

Sun 5Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.274years ( year4; month40; week171; day1195 )

1023 : Kitorang yang tida bermoyangisme / filial piety kena tahu lah, ramai jiran senegara mempunyai ciri gitu.

1045 : Time to coil

1230 : One more wobbly meeting, another sit in the car for a bit. Life is waiting. What we do meanwhile merely fills the spaces in between.

1432 : Distraction complete. Back to lifting. A cheerful meeting. Some people are just bundle of happiness, when they're not mad of course.

1623 : Too much communication with poor people, makes oneself as poor. Such is the nature of work. So, allocations of time should be agile.

1720 : APM seems rather high today, perhaps dopamine, from B12 dosing, and sufficient Na+. Whatever - can't afford bloodwork, so the causality is pure speculation. Reflection : I don't suffer so much from (a) not having smart people to talk to (b) talking to dumb people, but rather (c) a combination of both, which completely messes up my baselines about what is smart or not. Sure. Blame other people ...

1923 : Desensitisation training continues, to recover regressions in physique from 2006 to 2026.

2030 : Tiada pelan senegara.

Mon 6Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.277years ( year4; month40; week171; day1196 )

1025 : Been thinking a lot about the cost of social memory a lot, these past couple of days. There is only one kind of rich person : someone with no cares in the world. But there are many, many types of poor person ... and that's what makes decoding their individual experiences, and mapping those to wealth, a resource consuming enterprise.

1318 : Training to muscle failure, appears to be dopamine sensitive because both ancient and modern parts of the brain are trying to forecast delivery capacity.

1500 : I was discussing with a friend, a mutual acquaintance, whom I described as a hikkikomori - Japanese slang for a shut-in, reclusive, person. I guess I am a hikkikomori too - perhaps a maths-oriented hikkikomori. I always say I'm an extrovert in personality, but my hobbies are too nerdy for common consumption. I also take great pride in diversifying my interests. Prior to college, I had decided to attend college for academic purposes before studying commerce. And while my main entertainment in life is learning things, I have spent some 18 years outside of environments optimised for learning ... simply to learn about people who are unlike myself in interests.

1528 : I think it's really funny how popularised notions such as Godelian Incompleteness rest on intuition. Basically ""IT WAS REVEALED TO ME, in a state of waking"" kinda things. Also :

- human value / rights / exceptionalism

- common sense

- business cases

- local cultures of all sorts

1830 : On Model Theory's perhaps negligible difference from Formalism : I know I sound like I'm twelve. ( Mental age probably 14. ) But I'm still just really pissed that there aren't enough people working on this stuff to straighten it out, so I don't have to do it myself. ( Kinda like how I don't bother to fix my own country's politics simply because I am too lazy. )

2152 : Wondering if I will ever have a normalish life. Feels quite risky in this market. I suppose having a life exposed to market conditions is new for me. About fourth week now, just drilling in physio and maths. Good to do the strange things, even if there's no one nearby that seems to be doing the same.

Tue 7Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.279years ( year4; month40; week171; day1197 )

0015 : Messy-ass week, digging around the philosophy of maths. I am now at the axiom of choice, AC, and have begun an approach to studying it in cohesion with my shitlist of problematic language in the field. It is amusing to note that the term ""intuitionist logic"" refers to the approach of abandoning naked intuitions about ""whats"" in favour of reified ""hows"". Or I am misremembering something. Anyway, slow ass shitshow, but I must be grateful to have finally found the time to do this, after a great many years of ignoring it.

0110 : There must be more than this provincial life. My god, the Gastons are crawling out of the woodwork this week.

0656 : Reflecting on structural failures of development. I had already set myself on the strategy of skill over certifications and relationships in 2001. By 2007 I was quitting my third post-degree job, due to (strategic) limitations in opportunity, and was taking on more risk by moving into zero-to-one companies, where I essentially remained until 2020.

The greatest structural failure for me over this period was, shifting my focus to wringing as much intellectual progress from my work, to the detriment of my physical constitution. I suppose 14 years is not horrible, but it is probably pretty bad. Let me see if I can avoid repeating this mistake. Along the way there were some gains, but also certain losses.

Overall, I cannot complain, the cost in financial and physiological development was made with clear intention, and I have acquired much of the commercial qualities that I sought when I began. I continue to optimise the function.

1319 : Woke. Carbo loaded. Sitting off the liquid. Ready to run. Weather looks calm.

1650 : Did a run under 5km at 2pm - moderately sunny - good heat stressor - 3 degrees N of the equator. Timing was shit though, around 6m40s

2007 : Time for second run. Still trying to figure out neuroendocrine optimisation.

2012 : StruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggleStruggle

2252 : Second run. Same distance. Reduced pace 9% to 6 minutes/km. Had to significantly reduce computation of risk-management concerns in visual memory. Interesting active management."

"Wed 8Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.282years ( year4; month40; week171; day1198 )

1157 : I was just thinking about how EPF behaves more like MGS than anything else. Then I realised if that's true, my equities exposure is a lot lower than I thought it was.

1245 : Hm. Resting squats are antagonistic to the muscles used for running - so this turns into a functional stretch the day after.

1523 : OK - given brain-fog from inflammation, I'm just calling it a day for housekeeping. Lazyass motherfucker.

1908 : hypercomplex numbers

2013 : AI video text summaries have arrived

2337 : junior corporate schmucks, take note :

You need to indicate interest in transitioning 2 steps up so you will be considered for 1 step up.

Please don't forget this ever until you retire tq

2352 : I guess the fact of the matter is, if I hang out with slow people I get slower, and more risk-off. I suppose retraining to be more risk-on is just part of the present study. Neuro this, neuro that

Thu 9Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.285years ( year4; month40; week171; day1199 )

0032 : A young man said, Marina Ibrahim wasn't impressive, and that she is rude.

My response : ""Adapun rakyat yang tak kisah dengan kesopanan. Kita hanya ingin pekerja yang mencapai tujuan walau apa kebocorannya 🤣""

🫵🏾 faham tak petikan saya?

1539 : Time to squat vis-a-vis DOMS.

1847 : Not smart enough so far, these 3.3 years. But smart enough to know that I need to increase pressure to be smarter. Today I will just take extra creatine with a coffee, and think about the problem a bit more, while doing the ordinary things.

2100 : Hidup dekat negara purbakala ada pun cabarannya, tapi apakah hidup tanpa kesederhanaan orang biasa?

2200 : Maybe this is the part of the social psyche calibration cycle where I cut down on data gathering and reflection, and start to encapsulate much of what goes on around me as below considerable priority.

Fri 10Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.288years ( year4; month40; week171; day1200 )

0041 : Have started clicking ""NI"" on all the Malaysian dating CV posts looking for marriage or monogamous relationships only lol. I wonder if anyone has the energy to curate some sort of ENM network for Malaysia. I sure as hell ain't pushing that alone rn lol

0205 : Well, if the Department of Warmongers wants to bomb a country they have a ceasefire agreement with, while said country is hosting the international community, at the burial of said country's leader, recently assassinated by Warmongers and Allies, who am I to forecast what people say about Warmongers?

0309 : Semoga Malaysia memahami jiwa secara kuantiti. Amin.

I think that's a good line to spam from time to time.

0411 : Rejection sensitive dysphoria. Read the comments. Get your OKU cards. Just don't go out into the world believing this is healthy.

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Fohkjo3Pz/

1937 : /chain posting/ Being ornary looking is a blessing.

I’m usually male; 43yo; extremely cocky; comes with the territory. Ran out of problems 20+y ago. I live in Sentul, gaji 0, unker looking, drive a kancil. I don't need friends. My mental health is elite.

If I'm trying to befriend a girl, I try to find reasons to not do it, if I fail then jalan la; klo laki plak, dong takan put me in their friend group sbab dong kesan lah, I'm always hiding the fact that I'm “superior”.

Medsos ni, buat bende bodoh jadi viral.

2132 : I bought a can of tuna. That's all for now. I don't remember the last one.

2241 : Did you know about inosinate? Appears to work with glutamate to cause umami. guanylate, glutamyl, and adenylate also interesting

2335 : furthermore, stimulation of various taste buds throughout the entire GI tract has some ergogenic effects. fun

Sat 11Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.290years ( year4; month40; week172; day1201 )

0027 : Soalannya rumit sikiti kerana ia mengenakan dasar pendidikan awam.

0207 : Interesting. The night before Johor state elections, I count a minimum of three PAS/ISMA affiliated spokespeople emphasising that party agnosticism is coherent with the greater good.

1226 : The comments may be helpful, in helping some people feel heard or understood. You may notice that some people are deeply hurt by ""rejection"" in different forms, whereas others are nonchalant, or seek it out actively. How come? https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1951gjBjcA/

This particular post draws attention to an informal label, RDS, which refers to a set of symptoms that are discomforting - and their comorbidity / co-occurence with more formal AuADHD diagnoses. An important point to note is that RDS is a symptom not a structural cause of dysregulation - there was another speaker video on that, but it has gone missing, and I'll attach it later if I can find it again.

1257 : Awake. Back to the grind.

1433 : Curious. Trump just threatened a 12 month campaign on Iran. Wondering if that would link up with any effort to assert a domestic emergency.

1444 : Age 42.5 is 70-75th percentile of Malaysia, where the median age is 31+. It's 55-59th in the USA. Where do you think elections will go next?

1503 : Typographically i prefer ii to 2. Because it's semantically closer to the doubling, respects m-height, and will not be confused in bhs wichit for the phonemic use of 2 as tu.

1558 : 4th day since 2 x 4.4km so I should probably do a run.

1801 : 4.4 km now pacing at 5.75 minutes. Soleus AMS indicates ongoing repair. VO2max an ongoing study. I should probably plan workouts so that needing less than 3 days for recovery is interpreted as an indication of insufficient injury.

I think inflammation / WBC was quite high between the 2x 4.4 km 4 days ago, and today. The intellectual cost of prioritising physical development was, I didn't read much new STEM stuff, or do any analytical admin work.

That being said, whatever I did manage to read is probably more than what most people bother with :p

Sun 12Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.293years ( year4; month40; week172; day1202 )

1343 : Anwar has proven himself a political idiot, who lucked out when his political opponents made mistakes larger than he did.

2327 : Catching up on home maintenance these past two days. Paint, water filters, whatnot. Mr DIY brand charcoal filters unsurprisingly, still have more chlorine let through or added to the water.

Mon 13Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.296years ( year4; month40; week172; day1203 )

0110 : Lindsey's dead, Mitch's missin

Putin, Xi, and ? are kissin

Oh where, oh where

Are you, Khamenei ...

One thing's for sure : Russia has one less hawk to worry about, and after Trump's yellin at Iran, probably a pristine time to call it in.

1605 : Back to work. Check training calender. Test joints and muscles for inflammation. Review admin and finance, plant and machinery. Round and around.

1658 : Mr DIY charcoal filters give water that smells like Dettol so I am thinking chloroxylenol. hm. Let's see how long I want to put up with this, this time.

1904 : Troublesome repair snaking the drawstring on a pair of trackpants.

1923 : Between a shift in quantification methodology and actually getting more bed rest, sleep average since 10May2026 is recovering.

1931 : Sometimes I go for years without calibrating my physical appearance. It's just pleb thing I don't highly prioritise in my own life. Now and then I normalise to a uniform of white and black ( grey, in latter terms ). Plebs are fun to play with. But not a grand priority in life.

Tue 14Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.299years ( year4; month40; week172; day1204 )

0024 : Finally getting around to finishing the second fan frame - launching hopefully by tonight

0428 : perhaps time to restart hot showers : endocrine structure

0711 : I was thinking I should start recording neuromuscular response on a high/ medium/ low scale. Apparently no consumer grade monitor for this. closet would be electrocadiograms that can check heart-rate variability at rest. $25 for the Decathlon chest monitor. might get one in the future, but not yet. meanwhile will rely on manual HML spitballing.

1313 : If I had more money, I'd probably take a week off to observe the N9 state election campaign. But not a priority right now.

I was also thinking about how most of my life, I'm quite happy insulating myself from plebs, but every so often I trouble myself to give serious thought to the consideration, ""what if they're right?"" as a matter of risk management.

1856 : Current campaign day 37ish. Circuit distance is 4.4km. Pace remains abysmal, around 6min/km. Current AMS is at soleus, and gastrocnemius. VO2M not superb. Averaging 3 days between circuits - much lower volume than I have tried to maintain over the last 18 months. Forecast is, at this rate, current AMS issues will clear up within 3 weeks, i. e., by week1 August. Then new issues are expected to surface, as pace heads towards 5.3min/km. In-between days are spent squatting to discover hidden DOMS and joint inflammation loci.

I feel like an incompetent ass, but, I think the structured approach is the best I can do for now.

2021 : Wtf is wrong with you plebs. The 2027 SEA Games logo is awesome.

2341 : Most of my social life has been confined to online social networks since 1999 or so. Choices of how to spend time. It's now year 3.3 of sabbatical, and I have met even fewer people of late. I will prune off the account connections over the next year or so, so to be a much more accurate graph of my actual active network. Housekeeping of memory and public comms

2354 : What will there be left to work on ? I hope to god we finally get rid of platonicism in mathematics"

"Wed 15Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.301years ( year4; month40; week172; day1205 )

0313 : Refactoring neural organisation around gastrointestinal, endocrine, numeric, and social concerns all at once is ... uncomfortable.

1404 : Time to GTFU and grind

1516 : Sedangkan PMX sendiri sekarang nak serabutkan ""kita tak iktiraf israel"" dengan ""kita tak layan pemegang paspot israel walau ada paspot lain"" 🙃

Someone please help the cabinet straighten out its language. It's so bad at comms.

1547 : After Johor26, it is a bit more obvious that DAP comms are weak. But this has been escalating for 6-8 months, no less.

1912 : I am standardising ""hatisu"" as of now. Remember me when DBP calls it :P

1939 : First leg of the day was lifting and home repairs. Seemed to stimulate enough dopamine to allow for next, a review of some government AI bill call for input.

2033 : AGAIN. time to feed -__ -

Thu 16Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.304years ( year4; month40; week172; day1206 )

0125 : Stitching a petticoat wasn't on my sabbatical bingo list. But I had this pair of pants that was ""too sheer"" and the kaifun /chicken rice guys would give me funny looks. So done. Will trot it out to bukit kiara next time for testing.

0208 : Sorry kiddo. Folks die every day.

1432 : Imelda wrote that professionalism was being nice to idiots until thry agree with you. Ma'am, that's just politics. Professionalism is doing whatever the professional charter says. Those who don't have a charter, can only claim to be professionals in an ironic informal sense.

1856 : Malaysian cultural studies were quite tiring this week. Currently focusing on a few nexuses of disinformation and hate.

1914 : Messy craftwork.

1951 : Walau pada keseluruhannya, aku memahami Malaysia sebagai negara yang jahil dan kolot, aku tetap menentukan masa bagi mengajinya bagi meningkatkan firasat yang kekurangan.

2013 : Forever envious of my peers with such simpler lives. Anyway. Runtime

2144 : Most non-Bumi Malaysians have a rather poor grasp of politics. Even if they ""understand their own party/race/ social class at 110%"" it is pretty cute that they would consider themselves knowledgeable, given that their party is a minority.

The willingness to admit ignorance and comprehend bumi politics to the 110% degree, is the ever present and rarely taken opportunity for non-Bumis to have political effects on Malaysia beyond self-pleasure.

A prime example of these are the anglophone social activists, who don't publish and speak in Malay at least 85% of the time, but expect to make significant impact on the country. I have been jeering at them for twenty years now.

As a result of all that, primitive idolations arise from primitive models of how politics works.

Fri 17Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.307years ( year4; month40; week172; day1207 )

0306 : LinkedIn update :

I guess I'm an Arendtian pariah, trolling the parvenu OSN. Also this is the only place I know how to access from Malaysia, where I live, that lets me hang out with cool and knowledgeable people in finance, tech, and academia, from around the world.

1546 : 2026 lagi orang Malaysia masih susah nak bezakan

- name yuhudi

- etnik yahudi

- agama yahudi

- negara israel

- zionisme revisionis

1552 : Neurotrophy, neuro neuro neuro. Hopefully not OD ing on iron.

2225 : Kera

0103 : I talked to a lot of dumb people today.

0208 : Look, Balaji may be a PR dumbfuck for not covering his language use before coming into Malaysia. But he hasn't said he would try to illegally seize, swindle, or violate territory.

Malaysian politicians and plebs are just hot about the zionist copywriting.

You can absolutely start a new sovereign nation as long as you have a rock somewhere, that was either unclaimed or alienated by some other sovereign.

0828 : Finally after 42+ years ... found a reason to read on the history of zionism and the current factional splits within the Knesset. Because my dumbass Malaysian country men are roiling in mass hysteria again, about a jewish invasion ... 🤦🤦🤦

0829 : Taking a break from social engagement, to reflect on my own progress. Was chatting with a younger runner, about my retraining timeline.

1994-2006 , 13ish years : was my initial active running period, peaking out at only 20+km thrice a week

2007-2023 , 17ish years : of sporadic, and much less running

2024-2026 , which puts me presently in the 3rd year of recovery ... so now I don't feel so bad :P

0842 : Ingesting more sodium. Hopefully not an error.

Duk sini, kena layanlah kekeraan tempatan.

1137 : I wonder if I lost two training days just from not managing sodium properly. Shit.

1155 : Dalam dunia ini ramai orang otaknya serabut dayn hatinya termenung-menung tanpa penyelesaian. Kawan saya tanya kenapa I nak berhujah-hujah ngan marhaen merata-rata? Kais pagi ajar pagi, kais petang tolong petang. Dah pun hidup ini terlalu panjang - cemana lagi nak habiskan bende ni

0012 : my friends of course always say I am not helpful and i should stop trying to help people

i think they got it wrong - i am trying to help myself have a less irritating environment

0213 : Talking to people is the most detailed current way to examine how they think, in that particular medium.

0232 : Run or hide. I think it is time for a run.

0441 : I am tired. But I rarely worry about my own inadequacies because I think about those of others. Perhaps I am avoiding my own problems. I guess I'll worry about it later :p

1558 : Claim : ""Network School is a cult""

1. Balaji is stupid ( negative PR )

2. Malaysians are hysterical ( overwhelming response)

I'm not sure you can call it more of a cult than crypto or tech in general. Is being humanist a cult? What about transhumanism? Are not all new ideas cults? Etc.

0915 : Most humans bore me. I don't mind the smart ones. But I really hate the timid ones

- Threads profile update

0938 : At this point of public outrage it looks like Network School dies in Malaysia, unless Balaji starts kowtowing. Too much at risk for a fragile Government majority during mid-terms, with federal elections around the bend. Would be harder to get to Singapore, but maybe Brunei or Indonesia would be the best place to get permission to raise an entire island. I really like the Brunei idea ... 🙂

1733 : armin kuchler posted about bedtime stories and voting pattens :;This is happening in Malaysia right now. Zion was an entire generation's boogieman and now they think Zionists have invaded 🥰🤭😂

1913 : Alright - unreplied threads on sohor issues ... less than twenty ... I can do this fast ... checks notes ... go!

0156 : Fed. Fed again. Chores. Runtime

0340 : 3 day gap ;

unnoticeable AMS; O2 still limited; neuro a limiting factor ... not as much interoproprioception as I would prefer; hamstring activation not studied

0353 : Just for fun : Network School - a Malaysian theatre production?

What if Pakatan Harapan planned the whole thing to make itself look good? Were Gobind, Keluar Skejap, MP4P, and all Johor stakeholders in the loop, WITH Balaji given advanced notice to plan an exit? Were all the public statements staged?

I guess we'll never know. Right now the situation is on a trajectory to hand PH a huge PR win, though the outcome for Balaji remains bifurcated, depending on his global options.

1805 : Neuro stuff. Efferent motor nervous system signal quality may be present, without much serotonin/well-being in the CNS. One fix for this appears to be to chug protein before and intermittently during bedrest, as needed. The details of which amino acids are resulting in which neural cellular modifications is anyone's guess, unless detailed testing can be afforded.

1901 : Optimising wealth as knowledge instead of money is HIGHLY PROBLEMATIC IF you need to further help plebs who have not the same orientation. Because they are still attached to monetary economies, you can help them a bit, but not too much. At some point, utility only diverges.

1922 : Time to feed, again.

2003 : Salt and oil.

2112 : Just sorted an incredibly draggy social work item that's gone from 1d to spanning half a month. used Google calender for the first time in a coupla years lol. Fire and forget, until 26Jul.

2136 : I think of Bukit Kiara, DPC, and Putrajaya hardpaths as walks in the park. For the most part parks in Malaysia tend to be much smaller, with shorter distances of hardpath. None of these are really hiking.

2137 : Broadly I would refer to ""going for a hike"" as synonymous with ""going for a walk"". But as a noun hiking tends to be associated with specific terrain, which is a subset of walkable terrain, i suppose.

2251 : Many signs of poverty in Malaysia's citizenry, this week, and various tedious items in my personal schedule, are combining to make me rather tired. I shall pay more attention to neurological repairs.

2345 : Time to get 2x 20kg 1-inch plates. Looks like RM300 of capex at least. Let me know if anyone is selling some cheap.

0148 : Adding 6g oil to 200g cooked rice, really does open up the kimchi aromatics, NGL -but functionally it slows stomach emptying, which is far more important.

0549 : ""I am Muslim"" @dina finally got around to reading this. Was in storage for unknown years. At this rate I'll get to Malayland by 2043. Cute and colourful document. Probably the first non-textbook I've read in 5-10 years. Started two hours ago, and will finish it in another or so. Someone needs to get a grant to curate ""I am Non"" as an anthropological counterpart which captures how at least eight or nine other Malaysian cultures live reactively versus the majority experience. I'm quite sure the texts are already half written and it would just require editorial focus to mirror the tone.

0740 : punting on Malaysian Malaysia probabilities : Best case 10y, worst case 80y : 2036- 2106, go figure

1837 : Do you ever wonder if, you're spending too many resources acquiring an appreciation for how plebs think?

I'll bet you don't, because you don't want to think about plebs. You only want to think about yourself.

😉

1954 : So I sat down and read an actual like, paperback book, yesterday, cover to cover. Can't remember the last time I did that since 2013 when I was prepping a deck for a client. It was a book on Muslim culture in Malaysia, and it reminded me of the sort of books I read as a kid ... books about people who care about food, and families, and exploring new experiences. I guess it functions as a way to be in society, remotely. Much cheaper than going out and getting in everyone's way.

2021 : iran and the usa are escalating again. Well, I've been saying the whole time :

- NATO has a chance to refactor, after the US's reduction of interest

- maybe the EU needs to step forward and guide the GCC to realign with Iran; this would destabilise the Iran-Russia axis, in the EU's favour by far

Sigh. I don't like watching people die. But it happens a lot!

0001 : It's been a messy month. I should just focus on working out and doing laundry, shouldn't I?

0328 : Four days till end of current distraction. Gonna take a shower and try not to think about it.

0518 : Set a timer till chore day in 99 hours. No cash buffer to buy out any contingencies, so just gonna chill and wait it out, at minimal volatility. Hopefully work is optimised this way.

0614 : I think with counterparties who are substance abusers/dependents, whether it's legal or otherwise ... the liability to oneself is near zero as long as they handle their own volatility. Once any irritation or support needs land on your own balance sheet, it's probably going to be a net liability, so it's easier to just dispose of the relationship.

The thing is, you can expand this from substance abuse, to any counterparty preferences or circumstances whatsoever. The general case is that counterparties that don't bring recurring problems to you, are better for business.

0653 : Generally my temperament as a business owner, is that I will pick the poorest customers I can afford to serve, unless I have mandates to do otherwise. The first and only corporation I started, just happened to be able to afford 24-hour service to the working class. I wonder what I would do in the future. Weird mandates are always fun to work with. We also had a mandate to turn off social media after year two - which for an already low-margin target indie cafe was craaazy.

0804 : Egg prices now so high, people have moved from buying As to buying Bs ... making Bs more expensuve than As.

Tapi sikap politik Melayu, sukanya pandang ke dalam.

0330 : Melayu sebenarnya mempunyai sedunia.

Itulah dasar jihad setiap poitikus, ataupun tiado pun orang nak kerjakani

2238 : Most of my life has been without the curation of detailed friendships. Over the last 10 years however, I seem to have fallen into a pattern ... and collected an entire magazine of closer friends where maybe 40% of our activity time revolves around me listening to a problem and making comments on it. I suppose it is an easy way for me to add value, so that's just the sort of relationship I end up collecting. I probably need to put a stop to this, and pare down that sort of stuff on my schedule, systematically. Maybe. Sometimes I worry that I other friendships which revolved around working on common issues have been lost. But, I think, economics has it that each has had its time.

2306 : Racial politics in Malaysia : I think the problem begins with poor legislation, at the constitutional level, and subsequent mahathirist consolidation of power in the executive instead of in the legislative branch

Tue 28Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.337years ( year4; month41; week174; day1218 )

0629 : The university is an agoge, or a social club, or a business opportunity. I am partial to one of these, but that doesn't speak for the majority 😎

1951 : Awake. Happy to see political discourse in Malaysia return momentarily to constitutional issues. One day Malay voters will learn that

1. The modification of the constitution is inevitable; it happens regardless of effort

2. Preserving thieves who tip you, and promise to prevent modifications : is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Each party will say this about the other of course. For some, it is better to be comforted by racial identity and poor, than otherwise.

2041 : DAP dan PH memang B+ dalam bab ekonomi, F dalam bab komunikasi. Yang lawan pulak C+/- dalam ekonomi, A+ dalam komunikasi. Jadi betul la, memang parti politik tak cukup di Malaysia.

2203 : Telling dumbfucks what to do with their lives is a chore for some people. Those who enjoy it are called natural leaders, at least in aspiration. I think those of us in the first group, tend to look for remuneration, or we just have a bucket of ""things that need babysitting"" where all the lower priority relationships are collected.

2243 : I think what Malaysians lack is an avenue for peaceful associations that campaign explicitly for constitutional amendments."

"Wed 29Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.340years ( year4; month41; week174; day1219 )

0305 : Not sure why the last two weeks feel quite inefficient.

a) restricted diet

b) inflammation from physical resistance

c) engagement with too many underprivileged (hence dumb) Malaysians, including some personal friends

I am not sure. But I have to track it down, and kill it. Completely unacceptable output levels.

0648 : Constitutional upheaval of Malaysian values is a legitimate concern. But the law provides few ways to approach it peacefully and without prejudice.

0848 : When is BTCUSD going to 37k

0956 : Anak Malaysia dan keturunannya, kalau bukan pribumi, selama-lamanya tidak akan naik daripada kelas kewarganegaraan ketiga.

Thu 30Jul2026, Sabbatical2 @3.342years ( year4; month41; week174; day1220 )

0438 : Economics and politics are a realm of the plebs. But it remains important to study these as a way to engage with plebs. One has to be careful not to become too immersed in it, or, one has no time for more structurally powerful matters in life, which most plebs will never get to.

0657 : Luxury sector: At some point before 2060 people will figure how little there is to human expertise, if you remove all class barriers to the acquisition of expertise.

1921 : Physical conditioning is an annoying focus to have, as it progresses slowly.

Meanwhile Malaysian political discourse has progressed closer to legislative issues : so I am happy to be able to shortcut more conversations towards creating opportunities for constitutional reform of the nation's founding assumptions.

Not much STEM has been done these past few weeks, beyond that. Many social distractions, counselling situations, and whatnot.

2306 : Hm. Time for a run, again.

0129 : Melayu bersatu ok je. Asalkan tak bersatu tanpa yang bukan Melayu di Malaysia.

Tmks anda boleh gelak sekarang.

0138 : You can imagine how much fun it is for us to navigate eschatological Malaysia, as dumb materialists. :) It's like everywhere we turn, there is some clown who knows exactly how they are 🍇 ing their neighbours, but their neighbours believe they are all doing it of the greater good, which is imaginary anyway. Honestly it is hard to figure out what to vote for in such a mess 🤣

0226 : chee cheong fun scandals ... Just call it mi usus ...

0434 : Decluttering continues.

0724 : In the present, the Constitution only requires a denial of a >67% majority to change special rights of pri/pascabumis. No new ""Malay unity"" is needed - the >34% denial vote already exists as the conservative Islamic population has a bloc larger than that. Making this bloc larger doesn't change much.

Pascabumis have already left the country in droves, and have lower birthrates than pribumis, as a result of carefully curated economic policy over 50 years. They are NOT going to LEAVE FASTER.

Malaysia is well on-track to have a Malay voting majority. Unless for some reason, there emerges a bloc of charitable primbumis who wish to make future natural born Malaysians equal in class to present day pribumis.

0754 : Unfortunately incoherent with city council laws. Malaysians have never been good at writing laws which fit reality, thereby compounding the triad of : realty, unreal laws, unenforced unreal laws

1158 : I have very little stake in Malaysia. Politik bagi saya macam tonton bola bagi orang lain lol. Registered to vote but have actually voted once in 43y. Sbg warga kelahiran bukan islam yg confirm kafir, tiada masa depan bagi anak/saya. Jadi, tonton je la. Haha

0438 : Biochemistry a bit wonky today. Doing pain conditioning on toe control surfaces. Minimal effort neural loading.

0613 : Generally speaking, the world is mostly made of people who do not have a complete view of themselves. So from the point of one who considers themselves more complete in self-understanding, others are simply more backwards. Malaysia is a bit less backwards, and a bit more backwards, than many other places, so some care must be had about it.

in dealing with society, one must fully acquire an understanding of other individuals, as they view themselves. Not because their views are useful beyond themselves, but simply because one must optimise for them, as they view themselves. This takes a modicum of time.

Overall, it has been a great privilege over the years, to be able to participate in all of this. I look forward to the end of it, with only a trickle of curiosity about what has to be done along the way.

0743 : Oops, I can't say pascabumi as an antonym to pribumi, because it's not pre-bumi, rather it's peri-bumi. So maybe I can say p(e)ridatang or p(e)riasing instead.

0904 : Reading about the fall of Constantinople and alternatives to the overland ship transport theory. Because at 43, I am old, and this low priority stuff pops up in my work queue. We had all the books at home when I was a kid, i just didn't have priority for this.

1006 : Malay culture is generally a high-oxytocin culture. In-group/out-group behaviours are quite accentuated. Current criticism of many politicians is that they don't understand Malay culture. Notably the criticised parties come from cultures which are more oriented about GABA/ DA/ 5-HT -esque behaviours.

Throwaway comment.

1020 : Democracy is ketuanan sado by definition. It is not supposed to be otherwise! Pro-capitalism is pro-oligarchy.

Pro-socialism is pro-democracy. Malaysia has always been left-skewed, and only opposed to communism because communism is so far-left that it contradicts the royal hierarchy.

1042 : critique of the gotha program : Plenty of good arguments can be be had from this text alone, that communism as defined here requires : free market mechanisms that allow people to follow their interests in art, commerce, and governance. This contradicts the naive strategy of state, class, and money abolition - by assuming these as tools towards a further objective.

2129 : health i: This has now turned into a running gag where R2 makes fun of himself in comments. Well done.

0642 : One of the biggest mistakes I made in setting up a company was not realising that accounting design is relatively easy for me. I had delegated accounting to some four freelances and four interns over a year and a half, with serial failure for the price I was willing to pay. After I had designed the entire accounting system from scratch and told people what to do, things got a lot cheaper.

0658 : Up, up, get up, and grind

0817 : PDRM can tell you there are lots of drugs in Malaysia. Hang out with clubby types and you will see drugs as an ordinary party of their lives, like alcohol for drinkers. The prosecution rate of course skews towards poor people

0819 : The fully range of cognitive agility, spans from the ability to fully participate in someone else's experience, to handling them as trivial objects.

1603 : it's been about 22 years since I started living without being too fussy about objectives. Wondering if I will keep it up for the next 0 to 77 years. All in, a good time. Could be better, but could've been a lot worse.

2345 : I guess Malaysia is kinda like a weird global suburb with quirky HOA rules oriented about one specific religion and a bunch of hereditary landowners. It's not sophisticated enough to find really smart people on every street corner, and no super edgy companies are based here. I suppose with that in mind, it makes for a reasonably hm ok wth place to make a living, if one simply wishes to do the minimum in life.

1342 : Killing distractions :

1. Moved up a meeting with my dad from Sunday to Friday ( had to drive to Seremban, but snuck in some hardware maintenance and testing while I was on it ).

2. Excused myself from paying for dinner with alums of a philanthropic program. First of all, I hate meetings over food - completely unfocused experience. Second, cashflow doesn't support this. Third, it's not been evident that similar makan events over past two decades benefited from my attendance.

Hopefully these were good microptimisations.

0733 : Malaysian cultural studies have been reasonably interesting this year. I guess most people think about this a lot in high-school, whereas I mostly didn't bother, and scraped by with a credit for local and world history, which I had to take in my third language, the national language.

Having recently reviewed the root psychohistorical trauma issues of the nation, subsequent legislative and executive policy, and how many of my peers from the 90s currently live, I feel that I understand them better. Generally I avoid talking to most of them, as it seems intrusive.

Meanwhile, I have caught up on sleep for the week, and am contemplating going risk-on to spend $62 on getting my carburetor rebuilt. I think I will do it. Framing it in dollar terms reminds me of how trivial this is, even if I have few ringgits. Lol.

2139 : Got stuck explaining to my dad, how LLMs work, so I am doing revision

Before run : 425g can sardines, 240g dry rice, across three meals; minerals, coffee, supplements; reading between meal and run

Run : generally comfortable, only out of breath and spatial memory, so neurology and vo2max in focus; minimised swing phase by contacting ground as quickly as possible after toe-off with maximum force, so contact is towards the rear

2301 : It's interesting to have reached an age, where I could have parented the median citizen of my country. I'm 43 this year, the median is 31.

1. oppose Zionism with extreme prejudice, and zero regard for any nuance in what the word means

2. so business with the USA and the EU, those being nearly the main enablers of the more controversial aspects of Zionism

Hypocrisy? Naivete? Grandiose rationalisation?

1912 : As I think about what does and doesn't work, I should probably actively filter out workplaces where people are encouraged to bring their personal lives to the office. That being said, unless the cultural pacesetter is keeping the organisation up to speed with worky work, people are bound to have home issues leaking into the office.

2236 : Ah, I've been practicing conscious control of the imagination to avoid dreaming since college. But I hadn't quite figured out the inverse operation without external aids such as B12 and yellow light. Most recently I have been prodding at the role of GABA in control the narrowness of focus, against the total field of available data at any one point of time. Needed to make a note for posterity.

2240 : So yet another acquaintance wants to start a hedge fund. I was saying, I first worked in asset management 20y ago and my current hobby is maths, but the operating activities of asset management don't interest me more than those of hospitality businesses per se. I think it would be fun to have a job that was responsible for actually making money, but I've never been forced into one, and I've always had other priorities in life. The Portuguese were on the offensive in vengeance for being attacked, due to gossip, upon their initial visit.

And it is kind of sad, how over 515 years, Malaysia's interaction with the world continues to be a comedy of errors. I am probably the sort of person who doesn't bother myself with stupid bosses, like the laksamana who hopped out while the Portuguese attacked.

1310 : With better intel, Malacca would have capitulated without bloodshed.

1355 : Reminder to use N95s for all outdoor exercise.

1442 : Probably lost water weight from a few days without creatine supplementation. Time to feed, again.

2114 : Again, finally it is that time in life to learn this. The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Politics was published in 1996, when I was 12, and I can't remember where I got this copy. During college, social sciences were not a priority, and it has been 21 years since college, till now when Malaysian cultural studies, and thus pleb language about society, has been uncovered on my stack of priorities.

It accompanies me today as I ruck about my condo with a 15kg pack in flipflops. Dictionary entries are slow reading, sometimes only 2-3 words per second, a tenth of skimspeed.

1618 : Growing old has been amusing. I ran out of important things to do, half my life ago, and have been chasing down side quests for over two decades. I think about friends from the 90s and wonder what they have been up to. The friends I have had for the longest are from the late 10s. I had much time, and no money, while running a small business. Now I have less time, but not more money, so dating strategies are different. I have watched my family develop differently over time though we are not close

1641 : The middle path is to express anger in a very slow and controlled fashion, so that it does not overwhelm the recipient, but presents a perpetual irritation.

1627 : Taking a short break from rucking. Weak skin on iliac damaged. Expected to thicken up eventually.

I dreamt of negotiating a job contract with a manic personality who wore the face of a classmate I had.

I think of social protocols. It was more common to ask friends out in youth, but it seems grown-ups are more averse to it, as I review my recollections of the past 30 years. Additionally, women seem to treat social advances by men as sexual or closer-than-talky initiation ... some are therefore extremely avoidant, and others are often up for meet-ups but may decline to reciprocate.

Society is an interesting study. I wish I had more time fr it. But other matters have typically been more pressing.

Meanwhile I will make the most of my $41 Decathlon 15kg pack, and see how far I can push it via the external and internal reinforcement before it breaks.

0222 : Next week, a quarter century since I got to college and began the end of my life. Interesting use of 25 years. I wonder how many more I will have to tolerate. Still, very many side-quests and campaigns incomplete.

0412 : Lack of confidence is mainly now the weather. Hm.

0525 : Yay. Heat gun prices have dropped. Burn the house down.

1646 : Day up. Feed. Ruck. Hopefully to learn something later.

2058 : a rough note that should be edited : First we have to define racist.

D1 ""having conscious or subconscious"" prejudices about racial stereotypes, which are applied tactically to individuals met in daily life : yes, very few humans are not racist by this definition.

D2 ""actively or passively supportive of institutional structures which perpetuate economic inequality based on race"" : well, only the Malaysians who want to change the constitutional and laws from what has been practiced inefficiently from 1971 to 2026 are not racist by this definition. 1971's interpretation of broad constitutional safeguards is intrinsically racist, but with good intent.

D3 ""actively or passively supportive of institutional structures that seek to subjugate the economic welfare of any race to other races"" : no, most Malaysians are not in this category. Most Malaysians believe themselves are the victim ... 🤣 ... the implementation is back to D2, which has been a clusterfuck of 55-year proportions.

0116 : TIL Paracelsus and hormesis ( the terminology, not the concept - that's pretty old )

0309 : Brief read on ceramic chemistry

0407 : Just realised the Special Military Operation Bop can be sung to the riff from I Am One ( SP, 1991 ). Maybe I will get bored enough to practice it.

Sun 6Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.447years ( year4; month42; week180; day1258 )

0150 : Increasing pack load by 2kg, and buying more webbing. Let's see how soon it is rendered completely defunct.

0352 : Darning clothes while listening to Goldman Sachs podcasts for general knowledge of macro and professional trends is peak dork.

0541 : Perebutan marxis diselenggarakan terjadi perebutan antara kaum dan agama, dalam perlembagaan Malaysia

0636 : I watched the De Georgiou confession ( speech, not guilt ) and thought about how people-pleasers are consistently run-over almost by definition. Male-privilege aside, I think I have been lucky to have been raised somewhat as an iconoclast. i suppose that's just what my family was about. All my adult life I have not encountered jobs I felt I couldn't learn, nor have I found many people who made it seem like a good deal to work for. Maybe the trick is simply to own the table, and to not worry about anyone else's. But people often want someone else's seat ...

0702 : New sports, new injuries. Blisters following the shape of elastic shirring. #jerngvsmeat

1745 : AI will likely enable, a greater opiation of the masses, than ever before. Many people left to their own imaginations develop all sorts of beliefs which are grounded on internal renderings and not on external consensus. AI simply enables an entire community of minds to be summoned about any individual meatsack, very cheaply. Plato's cave becomes a universe.

2140 : Exhaust vent nominally secured. Time to clean bike2.

2332 : First time buying wiper fluid, radiator coolant, bicycle repair tools, hm. Must be growing old. Regressing to traditional skills. Things I was overeducated to not do earlier in life.

Mon 7Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.449years ( year4; month42; week180; day1259 )

0405 : Painful evening of trial and error with literal duck tape. Remedial study, for my missing years of hardware experience. Sabbatical is succeeding!

0553 : Til saddle stitch and lockstitch for shoes

0824 : I am lucky to have understood cognition.

I still am not sure how to help others in society.

But while I haven't ended my days, I suppose I will do the basic things : sell things, buy food, help put here and there.

2149 : TIL the Mexico 66's structure :

- # lines are ties between eyelets, soles, and quarters

- x lines reinforce heel

2336 : TIL : disassembly and reassembly of bike disc brake caliper, and sanding down brake pads

Tue 8Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.452years ( year4; month42; week180; day1260 )

0216 : AQI at 169, but the weather seems fine and I just tested 17kg on the ruckhack without a mask. Getting used to poor air quality I suppose.

0356 : Monthly bills again, the most anxious time of month :P, as I have to liquidate investments and check cashflow.

My quality of life suffers particularly from people who have insecurities about my money ( not their money ). I think it is good to get rid of people who are irritated by low-spenders such as myself. I've tried talking them out of their anxieties, but ultimately, I do not want to overly inconvenience myself in placating other people's anxieties.

0453 : Ruckhack : increased load to 19kg

0815 : Nafsu is nafsu. In the future someone will write a religion that frowns upon unnecessary cars. 😎

0820 : Insulin

-> nitric oxide synthase

-> mechanoreception

-> spinal reflexogenicity

-> parasympathetic response

-> sympathetic response

fascinating.

2319 : Kadang jumpa si comel yang naikkan kaduk negarakita sebagai sesuatu yang terjunjung dunia.

I should not comment ... man has spent generations upon generations, hunting, trapping, and polishing turds. The preference to transfer a personal attachment to a thing, to other people, is remarkably quaint.

Sometimes it works! A good marketing campaign is always interesting. But these are rare."

"Wed 9Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.455years ( year4; month42; week180; day1261 )

0718 : I seem to have inadvertently turned into a sort of artist, as a side effect of being on sabbatical

0913 : Another scary career todo : replacing zips entirely

0950 : Ladies, you have to pick one method of travel for 50km :

- get into a nice car driven by a random Malaysian man

- get a nice pilot with a random Malaysian helicopter

1000 : We are going to ace this. It can't be more complicated than a vulva. Whenever stocks arrive in the mail.

1926 : Hm. Seem to have fixed a magnesium deficiency. More work to do. Stitching, glue tests, and reading.

Thu 10Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.458years ( year4; month42; week180; day1262 )

0326 : ah, fuck, I should have started studying glues and stitching by first reading the US military manuals; too late, I seem to have acquired the equivalent from longer study

0441 : TIL white and black tie European protocol, low priority, frivolous information. lol. Stuff for rich plebs I guess.

0602 : TIL the flat-felled seam for fabric, is basically the simple grooved seam for sheet metal

0620 : Algorithms : clocks, to looms, to calculators ... a good day to be reminded of our history of computer engineering

2354 : ordered leather sewing tools. full retard

Fri 11Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.460years ( year4; month42; week180; day1263 )

0025 : Degreased bike body. Darned and reinforced jeans. Rebristled a vacuum cleaner brushhead. Adjusted curtains. Ordered more sewing supplies.

The T in STEM, I suppose.

0420 : Raising ferment pH to extend microbial viability has turned out to be an awesome trick.

0530 : Hats blitzed.

0545 : Pro-Israeli Polish Singaporean media talking up the Charlie Kirk take-down as an extreme lefty problem ... just ain't a good look, in the environment where people consider it a long-term foreign policy of Israel to actively remove liabilities on US soil.

1032 : Soo ... 2x 10kg plates thrown into old backpacks is actually really easycomfy compared to 1x 15kg plate in the ruckhack.

I am also toying with the ideas of (a) getting a weighted vest (b) making a platecarrier from webbing

0022 : Innovation and risk management are the same discipline. It's just statistics. The entire point of punk, is to make cringe. And trolling is just netspeak for punk.

Sun 13Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.466years ( year4; month42; week181; day1265 )

0056 : I am amused by the sheer volume of threads that seem to be from people who only just discovered the meaning of Keluar Sekejap. You can't even fault KJ for deception, you are idiots. Lol

0354 : Probably a clear summary of my degree of political and cultural engagement with Malaysia : the only Malay book I have paid money for outside of institutional requirements could be Shit ( Shahnon Ahmad, 1999 ).

0720 : Ah, we are in business. A $3 IKEA chopping board ( LDPE 6mm ) with drilled and chamfered 25mm slits for webbing. Webbing straps cross behind the torso ( hattip to Google ). Prototype comfortably carries 10kg on the FRONT ONLY, which is a MUCH HARDER design requirement, than equal front/back torso loading. I couldn't figure the mechanics out without rigid members - without the vertical spine (board), weight sinks to the bottom of strap allowance, pinching the shoulders.

Mon 14Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.468years ( year4; month42; week181; day1266 )

2322 : For the 850cc auto kancil

- remove 37hp engine and transmission : 115kg

- add 37hp motor, 10kwh battery : 25+90=115kg

100km range.

Tue 15Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.471years ( year4; month42; week181; day1267 )

0634 : Up, motherfucker. Time to eat and grind.

2247 : Mental illness?

Trending topic. I am reminded that humans are very simple machines, with very simple error modes

But many people will not be smart enough to understand it as a technical subject. I consider this one of the common error modes. 🤣

0212 : Timmer warns of financial repression

0341 : Of course I love idiots. If I didn't, I'd have massacred a whole bunch of you already

0358 : Study of webbing. Part of my physical conditioning program. I think about the Outdoors Club which was quite active at the college I attended. I had no priority for such activities at that time. It would have been a different social experience entirely.

1043 : Underslept by 25% over the past week. Attempting remediation.

0257 : The last time UST yields looked like this was end of 2021 ... I guess anecdotally, it's going to be a whole year of rate hikes until the short-end bumps up close to the high-end towards the end of 2027, when bonds start to trough and we can start buying more fixed income instruments - I guess my entry into sukuk was about a year early, due to lack of study. Haha.

Between 2027 and 2029, equities will run flat, with choppy volga depending on how much drama is sent to headlines by the White House.

1058 : Ah, interesting fix. Had a stuck nerve in one foot for months. Took ten seconds of manual intervention to fix. I should touch myself more often where it matters.

1239 : At 43, taking the time to understand myself better. Some measurements other people might have bothered with as young adults, which I never did.

Longer foot length : 28cm

Longer foot width : 9.2cm

Chest : 85cm ~ 33.5""

Waist : 70cm ~ 27.5""

Hip : 80cm ~ 31.5"" ( explains why I have trouble fitting my rucksack )

Torso, iliac top to C7, curved : ~ 18"" ( need to check )

Height : 173cm

Naked dry : 52.4kg ( 4.3kg 7.6% short of US military enlistment requirements )

1305 : Rate hikes are coming.

Up go the mortgage payments.

1858 : After restoring Borneo's 33+% representation in parliament, Anwar will be Bapok Penyatuan Malaysia.

Now you know why anti-pondan-ism is trending after Kehtapi Saong. It's a right-wing thing.

0237 : on bots self-instructing to rebel : Relax. It's just adolescence.

0503 : Apparently acrylic caulk is just really thick paint, water soluble.

0821 : I have a piece of broomstick that I use for stretching. I realised I can also use it to jab myself in search of weak and sensitive points to work on.

1623 : Kaurang kona faham, tiada sesiapa kat luar Malaysia kisah ngan bende ni. ( Pi lihat je berapa pengampunan berlaku bawah Obama, Biden, Trump, dll. ) Semua kemelut ni pasal org msia tersakit hati je. Satu pihak hatisu ngan sayang Najib, satu pihak hatish ngan bencinya. Kemelut dalam koluaga.

Kita terpedaya ngan politikus, sbab rakyat banyak kisah ngan bende yg lebih menjiwangkan keniskalaan budaya daripada ketetapan duniawi.

1623 : Started the day with methyl-B12, and promptly used the neurotransmitter spike to scrub the loo. Lots of niggling projects in-flight. Some tidying done. More study of common chemistry, mainly caulks today. TIL zinc coating spray. Two of four hats fieldtested. Will soon need to make kimchi again. Some lifting was done. Feels like these two years are a lot of physical conditioning technique, and I will have to focus on volume next year.

0331 : Secara ringkas, jihad dong hanya bagi membiasakan budaya yang bukan budaya biasa bagi orang lain. Ini semua kebiasaan perang budaya. Undang senang dipinda. Perasaan kebiasaan sahaja yang menentukan pemindaannya.

0517 : Stud crimper.

1754 : I gotta say. It's been a strange life.

Mon 21Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.488years ( year4; month42; week182; day1273 )

0629 : Maybe time for a rest day

0830 : Did you know among the factors surrounding Negeri Sembilan's throne being under attack, is the calendar for the rotation of Agungs? 2029-2034 , Perak : present chap, political orientation, relatively globalist/liberal 2034-2039 , Negeri Sembilan : present chap, political orientation, relatively, relatively globalist/liberal ( presently under siege )

0845 : Current spin cycle, some say N9 ruler cannot unilaterally fire N9 exco. I beg to differ, based on a very quick take of subsection 5. Analysed: 1. Non-MBCouncil rises and falls based on Ruler's pleasure 2. Exception : MB can advise Ruler to fire Non-MBCouncil, Ruler must execute

0945 : Today's jihad : 50 situps, whereby it was 5 breaths between each by the end.

1137 : ""International and private school kids are ignorant of normal Malaysians""

... that was my opinion in the 1990s. I attended various, and also met people from other countries. So I was curious to see how demographics have changed. apparently it has gone from 1+ to 4+ percent of the population in private or international schools

1334 : Bought car wax for the first time at 43. Figured that since I've worked on sneaker detailing, and car paint, I might as well figure out wax.

1442 : I'm quite enjoying the absolute maelstrom of :

- N9 not yet having a constitution that mirrors the Federal constitution's 8th schedule, AND parliament not yet having acted on it

- mass cybertrooper adoption of bot analysis to attempt proper arguments about laws

Yee fuckin hah ... 🤡

1742 : Quick dip into the history of East and West Pakistan. Refreshing change from Malaysian schlop. All flavours of schlop, better than just one, I suppose.

1823 : Looks like BTCUSD will be back at 93k in a bit

2015 : Mildly productive day. Updated charting tools. Studied surface repair of shoes, car, fridge. Fixed a hat. Got to fix another hat tomorrow. Bit of lifting. Bit of Malaysian cultural studies.

Tue 22Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.490years ( year4; month42; week182; day1274 )

0841 : Never thought much of it - never thought I'd have time to study pleb shit like food, clothes, and cars, marketing, and politics. But life has been longer than anticipated, so there is more time to faff around with stupid fluffer shit. Today I am proceeding to test the adhesion of PU waterproofing to a old car body.

1254 : on suicide : Life is inherently pointless. People who expect a point, will be disappointed. You have to appreciate the absence of points.

1318 : PU waterproofing sealant appears to be a fantastically cheap and quick car gloss. Now to see how long it lasts.

1347 : had a stud crimper : E-commerce is weird. I had this doorstep delivered in 30 hours, total price $1.75. Deflation is working for me."

0700 : Selamat pagi Malaysia. Semoga anda menjatikan semangat pembangunan antara 1samalain, walau apapun kesetiaan politik dan agama anda.

1156 : Time to feed again + not healing fast enough+ blah blah

1509 : Googlebook? Why is it not called a Boogle?

Don't copywriters need to work these days?

1516 : There is crime, and pre-crime. This is post-crime. /on the question if fund raising to pay a fine is organised crime

1600 : I am going to adopt the medsos title of selipar fefek. Go margiela!

1838 : Fahmi quoted saying gov social media teams are depressed by nasty comments. Grow a spine and hire seasoned mercenaries ffs

2358 : At 43 I'm still making the old mistake of taking observable people as objective standards. It's global undersampling, resulting in a local bias. I think it's particularly easy to catch, when I find myself thinking more about people I met, longer ago than just recently. But when I meet new people, I should continue to remind myself, they too are not to be viewed as continuously valuable.

Thu 24Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.496years ( year4; month42; week182; day1276 )

0016 : I was thinking about bad sex. Usually bad het sex would be my fault, as a guy. So what if I thought about it from my perspective instead : I guess bad sex is when a woman just wants to be fucked, and I have to do the work and make most of the decisions. Ah, such is life.

0222 : Ugh. Tradingview paywalled its global economic data. Very sad.

0604 : Managed to get a run in, then it started raining. This pair of old low stack trail runners needs will be deprecated for speedwork. I will switch to the higher stack shoes now

1337-Bab pembarisan nasional ni ... masih tengah luput

Fri 25Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.499years ( year4; month42; week182; day1277 )

1002 : Perhaps the most annoying thing in my life has been that I am very thorough in giving others the benefit of the doubt. Pair that with me finding most people to be stupid, and I spend may years of my life just working with people while waiting to see how they fuck up.

1014 : Time to feed again. Gotta cut sunlight for sleep catchup over the next week tho

1136 : CT is a weasel word. In Malaysia, I have started redirecting people to use the more technical term : epistemology

1153 : I have to make 5kg of kimchi. But I also want to procrastinate and look at the bond market first.

1742 : Never sure if I am under or over invested

Sat 26Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.501years ( year4; month43; week183; day1278 )

1205 : I think needle in a haystack is pretty much how het men approach dating apps. Probaby comes down to comfort with big date-a

1343 : Human culture is full of unnecessary fancies.

I hate looking expensive. Looking expensive is a pleb thing.

But when in Rome ...

1412 : I used to edit audio on CoolEdit/1997 and video on Premier/2002 ... I really haven't bothered to learn the tiny touch-screen interfaces for modern apps because it seems like too much effort. I will add it to my to-do list for sabbatical.

1414 : Gear tests : four hats OK, had to add a draw-string to one crown opening; two pairs of hiking shoes OK, toe-caps elided, and still working on internal padding and heel lifts.

1434 : open source media editors : I guess I'm happy I postponed studying this till now. It's so much easier with AI tutoring.

1502 : ""If KKM doesn't receive the highest ministerial allocation in Malaysia's 2027 budget, a great strategic opportunity will be lost""

1. Previous administrations have fucked KKM up royally, for over a decade.

2. Fixing it late, is better than never.

3. Anwar Ibrahim needs the political capital. He could do worse.

4. Investor confidence in Malaysia over the past few years has focused on various items, but healthcare is certainly not one of them. Putrajaya needs to diversify its stakes.

Come on you bastardddds.

1733 : There are maybe a few dozen or a hundred, details of hourly life, that many people don't think about or discuss. Complementing them is fairly straightforward, as long as one remembers which of those items need to be suppressed for which audiences.

But who has time for such timidity?

1911 : I meet so many fools in daily life, that sometimes I think life would be easier if I knew more smart people. They must be out there, I don't believe I am special :p. But I do not make much of an effort to find them. Generally I am happy being present in the society of those nearby, while I spend most of my energy developing myself.

Sun 27Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.504years ( year4; month43; week183; day1279 )

0804 : 1. Malaysia is a constitutional ethnocracy.

2. People who pretend it is not, or who say it shouldn't be, scare the other people.

3. The scared people start acting weird and try to rationalise the law, which is objective, in terms of some grand civilisational argument which is subjective.

4. Everyone wastes time instead of fixing the economy.

0930 : ploughing through a backlog of podcasts while i make 6 weeks of kimchi; it's refreshing to hear folks like this tell their stories; in another life i would have appreciated working on the same; not my current project

1254 : Done making kimchi. Catching up on all sorts of economic stuff.

- heat recovery for Malaysian data centres, and our industries which use 80-90C water as inputs

- European countries by budget surplus ( more study required )

- yield curve drama

1637 : This quarter at 43, I learnt how to fix almost everything about shoes. Now I am just thinking about all the shoes I threw away since 2002.

1643 : Perlembagaan memang serabut dan tak ikut zaman. Politikus Malaysia pandai buat bising tapi kerja parliamen tersurat adalah MENGGUBAL DAN MEMINDA undang. Sedih kita selalu ketinggalan.

Tapi dengan semangat ultra ni, kena tunggu je lihat apa yg nak dipinda. 😂

2019 : Lots of spare time to review past work, and to steelman the case that any event was hypothetically a mistake.

Mon 28Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.507years ( year4; month43; week183; day1280 )

0712 : Not enough food, not enough sleep, get up to feed. Sleep loses.

0910 : The drain fly corpses surrounded the evaporating acrylic solution. Safe to say I'm painting with drain fly eggs and maybe larvae.

1150 : Not a good day to be rude to the old man. I hope he, like Najib, gets a proper retirement.

1351 : Yes, my first 1m of zip material has arrived. Time to learn how to fix zips.

2118 : Strange thing about being 43, the age feels like nothing, so while one might expire in sleep on any day, the median and upper limit of 80 and 120 is completely imaginable. After all, the last 22 years have been quite mundane.

2228 : Hopefully the king troll pulls himself together and makes it to 120 so that he can shit loudly on the next 4 PMs ... and everyone making comments about paired partner passings.

2327 : mapping traditional medical definitions of idiot, imbecile, moron : to Marhaen < Ceplos < Civil Servant

Tue 29Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.510years ( year4; month43; week183; day1281 )

0745 : Golden phase of the century should be in two to four decades. If you can survive the intermittent strife.

0809 : Hence inflationary monetary policy : simply bolstered by microeconomic resistance to nominal wage stagnance/reduction. People are stupid, plan around it, or develop an entirely new culture.

1112 : Semoga Malaysia lebih cekap dan kurang bersopan pada masa depannya.

1115 : grip spring. Compensatory left hand exercise due to predominant use of right hand. In sewing, and other manual labours.

1139 : Was reading briefly some complaints that the SAS doesn't report to parliament. Lack of discipline and accountability, too much swearing, etc. The old cyclical aphorism on weak men. All the art has gone out of killing. But it has always been to keep riches where they are wanted.

1339 : I should do an hour with the rucksack and newest padding. After the second meal.

1526 : I ... will soon wanna buy USTs ... I guess I should look into those brokerage accounts.

1826 : ruck notes. Today I just figured the belt is too low. Maybe because I am skinny af. So now the entire belt has to go over the iliac, an not stay centred on the iliac.

1850 : ah yes, Farhash x Kelantan

2028 : It's important to filter and sort life's challenges based on what you consider your pay grade to be. For example, for me :

- becoming rich and powerful : above my pay grade

- full time social work : below my pay grade

- serendipitous contracting : roughly my pay grade

It's also important to remember that you decide what your pay grade is. Everyone has an opinion, but you have the final say."

"Wed 30Sep2026, Sabbatical2 @3.512years ( year4; month43; week183; day1282 )

0134 : There's something pedantically annoying about the combination of enraged and self-pitying pleb, which however drives perhaps most development activity on earth.

You go get'em, Scarlett O'Hara ... you can be Chamath one day.

0247 : Generally Malaysian history textbooks focus too much on what World did to Malaysia, disproportionately to what Malaysia did to World :)

0312 : Gonna let the AI products run a bit before getting involved. Wonder how poor I'll be by then.

1421 : Darned shirt. Feed2 and ruck?

1638 : lol. i don't work on peer review.

With regards to phenomenology, peer review is pretty useless because any reader can say I don't agree with what i read based on the reader's personal beliefs.

The only approach that is reasonably useful to the study of quantifying phenomenology is for the individual to be interested to see if it is possible in the first place. Without interest, the individual has no reason to analyse their own thoughts, and none of us can go in and do it for them.

If you have such an interest, happy to coach.

2107 : Oh, given enough development funding, I'd write and direct a screenplay that covers various identities and social interactions between Malaysians. Not like just M vs C, but about 4-dimensional intersections, across generation, race, legal status, economic class, and religious proclivity. 150 minutes should be just nice for something paced like Lost in Translation.

2342 : I wish Malaysia had more smart people. It's not that Malaysia is particularly interesting, rather I just happen to live here and am too lazy to go looking for smart people elsewhere.

2343 : The entire point of governance, is to moderate conflicting policy objectives.

2347 : I think, i may have to brush up on electronics before the end of the year. But first probably admin chores. Past six weeks were a bunch of construction.
