identified with feelings

At some point, it was maybe the fourth girl I dated post 2006, I was about 27, and encountered the first partner I had who had strong feelings about things, and wanted their partner to have strong feelings about those things.

( Yeah, I didn't date much : I imagine people run into this stuff at a much younger age, like 14 ... also mainly why, I didn't make it a priority to date much, as a younger person. Too much slop on the market. )

Anyway, SINCE then, I guess I have run into several more cases of people who identify strongly with their feelings, instead of identifying with their metacognition (trending word these days, hat-tip to Gu) of the structures motivating those feelings.

Nowadays I make a bigger effort to filter out these people. I think it saves us both time. Haha.
