Najib is Freed(ish)

Here's my oversimplified map of all the political parties in Malaya post 18 September. Mostly guesswork. 

It was a great day for horse trading in Malaysia.

1.

Anwar has now executed a gift to UMNO, and a gift to DAP, by way of positioning their minister on the Pardons Board, which ( one assumes, based on Constitutional process : see my 2025 note ) advised the YDPA to soften Najib's sentence, and the YDPA proceeded to such execution.

1.1. In return, UMNO will continue to cooperate with Anwar, although UMNO will distribute its risks and flirt with everyone all the time.

1.2. DAP's gamble has been to delegitimise itself with its home base, in order to legitimise itself with the majority.

All of the above face-off against PAS and Wawasan in the long game.

2.1. PAS cannot endorse a criminal and maintain legitimacy with its base. 

2.2. Wawasan simply doesn't think the pie is big enough within UMNO, and has essentially positioned itself as Boomer BERSAMA.

Anwar now moves to lock down the East Malaysians as allies, by increasing their parliamentary allocation. It is a great derisking for everyone in the country.

Credit where it is due : BERSAMA is just Milennial MUDA.

4.1. MUDA, of course, is pretty much Playpen PSM.

Majulah Malaysia, serabut kita yang dicintai ramai dan diduduki lebih ramai lagi.

Some plebs are very happy. Some plebs are very sad. As a political nobody, for me it is just Friday - literally, I am waiting for glue to dry, so that I can continue going on walks, carrying heavy things for personal development.
