Apa itu Malaysia? Apa yang diajar?

Pengajian KBSM 1990an kurang membincangkan peranan Malaysia dalam dunia, dan lebih menitikberatkan bagaimanakah Malaysia dimangsakan dunia. Oleh sebab itu, sejak kecil, saya tidak pernah mengambarkan Malaysia sebagai institusi yang menarik di pentas dunia.

time done in commerce

I often reflect on the beginning of my adult career, from 2005 to 2023, where I observed commercial culture from bottom to top. I viewed my study of commerce as a focus on avoiding predictable outcomes, and targeting unpredictable systems for examination. 

When I began that project, I had already developed for several years the notion, and I still hold, that none of the following are particularly hard to understand.

- Managing people.

- Managing P&L.

- Managing technology.

But you will see that I spent many years in organisations that were not good at the sum of these things.

To be honest, I don't know if the time spent resulted in much learning. But I always had in mind that the least I would get from years observing other people, would be the track record of having done the time.

politics as engineering, art as information

Most business people I meet aren't sure what to make of me, a person who doesn't have a need for a lot of money, except when asked to do work.

I predominantly think of myself as a scientist. I don't mean a professional publisher, as that is political work, but a student of scientific method.

The reason you see me fucking around so much with art and commerce, even though both are somewhat boring to me, is that I understand society as a machine made of human minds ( which I understand as smaller machines ).

Science tells me that politics only works with non-trivial artistic freedoms. Art is just a variety of information, and information is physically definable as statistical surprise.

Discussion :

It's not very complicated.

People who invent abstract concepts are more complicated in terms of predictability.

Those of us who have direct mappings between language and physics simply look complicated because we maintain documentation delineating the first group

my journey as a politician

In primary or secondary school I would have joked that I would be better than Mahathir. But I am generally disinterested in being liked, and am much more effective at being dislikable, so mainly I get things done by pursuing the latter.

If you have detailed knowledge of the DIFFERENCES, I would like to add it to my notes.

I bought a few to test. No labwork, so mainly guessing. The following seem similar. 

All : waterproof, flexible, dry in minutes, cures in days, not contact adhesives, clear; copywritten to sound like E6000 SBR glue by Eclectic Products; but may be acrylic / PU / other formulation instead

Except : E6000 is marked "not waterproof" but I didn't get a sample, and T7000 is black.

OP references another cycle of discussion where people realise that Islamic Banking and Conventional Banking are mathematically equivalent at some level, with minor legal differences. The implementations vary by country of course. He is talking about Malaysians who use the technology but on faith, having been told by others what is good or bad, without understanding it themselves.

Hal ini mengambarkan dengan indah, kerangka mencari takwa melalui pentafsiran "pakar kesucian". Kalau seseorang tidak mampu mencapai takwa melalui pengajian sendiri sahaja, maka sehidupnya bergantung kepada "pakar" pihak ketiga. Jadilah, ramai orang bukan sahaja keliru, tapi dah biasa dengan kekeliruan seumur hidup.

Reasoning is a weasel word. It the precepts of the universe are rational, all complex phenomena are rational. But not all representations of phenomena, are accurate.

Tanda dan makna.

Ketaasuban kepada petanda seperti perkataan, gambaran, bendera, bunyi, dan mana-mana benda yang mempunyai penampilan tertentu ... sering dikaitkan dengan jati diri seseorang dan sukunya. ( Ada juga orang yang jatinya bukan seperti ini, ia lebih berniskala. )

Kebelakangan, kita boleh memerhatikan ketaasuban petanda kenegaraan dalam minda pelbagai warganegara. Walaupun ini menunjukkan semangat kebangsaan, ia terlepas pandang sifat dasar ekonomi yang membolehkan negara wujud lagi diselenggarakan. 

Dalam kitaran berdekad, kita kini berada dalam fasa di mana penghafal dan pengikut petanda melebihi pencipta dan pemindanya. Yang sering memantau kejadian masyarakat, sudah tahulah ini berlaku akibat pilihan pemimpin yang lepas, dalam dasar dan kaedah system pendidikan dan jenayah.

Kita terus pantaulah, apakah yang akan terjadi dalam dekad-dekad nanti. 

Najib's Life and Times

I once had the opportunity to harm Najib, but decided that I didn't want to live as a fugitive, at the time. He sat near me at the upstairs Starbucks in KLCC, and I was quite surprised at how lax security was. It was some time after the Altanunya case, though I don't remember the year exactly - I guess he was DPM, though it might have been later. I had no personal ill-will against him as an individual, but he was known to be a risk to Malaysia.

I have written about it before, but current affairs bring it back to mind. One always wonders about what-ifs. Najib had been a controversial figure for a long time. I also thought about this throughout the period when Jho Low's NYC whaling was also in the news, and then later when individuals close to 1MDB started dying.

What if this, what if that. Life is full of complicated decisions. I am not particularly attached to Najib's punishment, as I tend to be more concerned with threat nullification than retribution. I hope he enjoys his house arrest, and stays out of trouble.
