Walau segala kenangan pengorbanan, walau sengaja atau tidak, walau mantap ke sia, sudah terjadi perlepasan panah masa dan kebanyakannya hanya wayang saguhati bagi kepentingan politikus semasa.

To be precise : irony is a luxury, and we're in austerity for the time being

It's the same for building sidewalks and multi-use streets. Small government should focus on setting standards, inspecting, and handling complaints. Development costs should be farmed out to local communities and the private sector. 

neurotic trauma potatoes

I used to worry about the legal liability to me, of traumatised people going off and killing themselves. My mum said she might do it, if I burnt my cert on the stage at college graduation. I was too tired to argue and had already been waiting for two years to get out, so I played it safe.

Twenty-one years later, mum is safely dead, and I have met a LOT more people, with all sorts of trauma. I figure some of them are crazy enough to kill themselves anyway. What is my role in society? I can help them out a bit here and there, but I will deny active involvement in their self-extinction.

Each person carries the natural ability, and arguably a right to self-direction. A larger government than that, leads to all sorts of religious beliefs about right and wrong.

autoritarianisme dan bahasa

Masalah masyarakat autoritarian : ramai orang ingat perkataan ada satu maksud saja, hujah ada maksud tetap, dan sebarang lencongan ditebus seburuk saja ada kegelisahan. 

Tuhan? Satu je. Pikir lain tak bleh

Negara? Satu je. Ditto

Bangsa? Ditto

Bahasa? Ditto

Ilm al-ilm? Ditto

Cara hidup? Ditto

Pakaian? Ditto

Haprak la jiwa orang Malaysia.

"Islam gagal di Malaysia," bukan yang kita boleh kata, maka patutnya kita sebut, "pendidikan umat tidak sempurna di Malaysia," saja. 

Apa itu "tahu"? Jawapannya berpelbagaian. Antara taraf dan tatacaranya ada kerangka rasmi, dan tidak rasmi. Ada istilah khas dan istilah umum. Adanya, pelbagai kata nama, kata kerja, dan kata sifat, yang adanya makna yang berlainan bergantung kepada sumber definisi yang ditetapkan sebagai konteks, mana2 satu ayat.

Kesemua ini dicirikan, pengajian ilm al-ilm, iaitu epistemologi. Bahasa2 awam di Malaysia biasanya digunakan dan dipergunakan dengan cuai. Itu sebablah, satu negara, bahasanya serabut.

Things I feel bad about, on behalf of others ( but don't feel sorry for ) :

- telling family-oriented people that I don't practice filial piety

- telling nationalists and patriots that they need to write the laws down and expect as much as they write, subject to empirical testing

- telling women that romance will get them nowhere 

- telling shareholders that I need voted mandates, not personal preferences

- telling animal lovers that the law doesn't protect all animals

- telling bosses they are not interesting employers

- telling customers their business is disposable
