A Lament on Tech Startup Development in Malaysia

from a forum :

TBH what gov.my should be doing is to have a facility that helps startups start with the US market, not end with it. All the local-oriented work is a bit ass backwards, for this band of financing. Can't aim for hypergrowth but build in a sandbox.

Traditionally, MY's top trading partners have been CN, JP, US, TW, etc. ... the tech startups should be targeting those from day one, not in later stages. It's just sovereign brand alignment.

MDEC should be under MIDA, not MOSTI, for example. Wrong people leading the wrong direction, for decades. Sub it. They can both be under MITI, but if it's under MIDA, the focus is a bit  ... ok, this would be a fun debate. You should talk-show it ...

Compassion and Gaslighting

War mentality. Some people experience violent reactions to fear, and fearful reactions to unfamiliar stimuli. This makes it hard for them to approach new things with appreciation. Much has been written about them, so the theoretical therapies are not worth jotting down at this point. They are not under attack, but in order to realise this, much work will have to be done, and often, no one else can do it for them.

In life, I wish that I and others can struggle through the trauma, and to develop desirable outcomes from all things. A difficult ideal.

- when spat on
- when maimed
- when cursed
- when belittled
- when ridiculed
- when disfigured
- when tortured

Of course, violence and fear are appropriate reactions to these things. But that only initiates a process where multiple outcomes are at stake. Sometimes you only need the thing that hurts you, to die. Sometimes, you learn to live with it. Sometimes, you need it to suffer, in vengeance. Sometimes, you acquire an appreciation for the overarching set of circumstances.

There are much milder sources of hurt than the things in the first list. How long are these lists? What goes in them? Who will decide what the world should adopt as its norms?

Attention Seeking

The way it is generally used, the semantics of it are ... "X likes attention", means "X likes people focusing on X."

Some entertainers don't care if they are the subject of focus ... Some of them just want the audience to focus on something else, like a story, or a sensation, or an abstract idea.

Do you understand the different varieties?

What is the Nature of Man?

An inherently jealous, pessimistic, and fearful person ... Would react likewise to arbitrary news about anyone.

An inherently prosocial, optimistic, and confident person ... Would react likewise to arbitrary news about anyone.

How to say, "I am a Narcissist"

1. I am selfish.
2. I am aware that I am selfish.
3. I am publicly outspoken that I am selfish.
4. I am willing to discuss the analytical details of language used to discuss selfishness.
5. I am willing to discuss the above with regards to my own behaviour.
6. I am not willing to verify other people's statements without an analytical treatment.
7. I think that's very un-compassionable of me, but it doesn't qualify as narcissism.
8. UNLESS, narcissism is defined as uncompassionable selfish-ness ... In which case I would accept, given that we have executed (4-6.) upon (7.), that I am a narcissist.

Ethanol and Feelings

20g of 80 proof spirits is ...

( 20g / ( 0.6ml * 1g/ml + 0.4ml * 0.789g/ml ) / 10 ml ) ~> 0.87 standard drinks, a therapeutic dose of ethanol ...

which, releases some of the brain's store of dopamine, thereby increasing engagement with goal-oriented tasks  ...

which some might call, a pre-game.

Does it stimulate "feelings"? That's going to depend on how we define ... "feelings". I think most people's feelings are wasted on other people. People often wish I engaged more with my feelings about people, but I prefer to reserve my feelings for work, or in commonspeak ... I would prefer to reserve my feelings for things which enable me to make more money.

Financial investment involves both conscious and subconscious data processes. Sometimes to access the results of subconscious processes, ah, isn't that what we call feeling ... a therapeutic drink has specific functions.
