Deconstructing Jealousy : How Polyamorists Function

So, a common pattern among social partners (sexual, or commercial, or otherwise) of various species is, that knowledge of one's partner having another partner, then motivates oneself to react. Whether the reaction is internalised only, or externalised in speech or other behaviour is a trivial point. What I want to draw your attention to, is the language we use to describe these reactions in general.

A negative lens is generally applied by monoamorists, whereby the phrasing is, "jealousy and/or disgust" ... however a positive lens may be applied, whereby the phrasing is, "validation and/or inspiration". Specifically here, "validation" refers to the information that one receives, when oneself is made aware that one's partner is valued by a third-party, to the extent of actualised behaviours between one's partner and the third-party.

Under the negative lens, a fear of loss motivates oneself to reduce one's partner's engagement with the third-party; alternatively, a fear of one's partner may motivate oneself to reduce one's own engagement with one's partner.

e.g.
"I am sad that you are seeing so-and-so."
"You must stop seeing so-and-so."
"I must stop seeing you."

Under the positive lens, a recognition of one's partner's value then motivates oneself to increase one's own engagement with one's partner; alternatively, the recognition of one's partner's other partner's value to oneself, motivates oneself to increase one's partner's engagement with their other partner.

e.g.
"I am happy that you are seeing so-and-so."
"You should develop your relationship with so-and-so."
"You are a more interesting / attractive partner, now than before."

Relationships are Work

I often check in with my friends. Usually if we're not sure about long-term compatibility, I'll just focus on QA and BAU. How are you feeling today? Do I still entertain you? How would you like me to dress? How hard do you need me to be? How long? For how long? I'm not feeling so good today, do you mind if I use my fingers? Do you like tongue? Do you like your X being Y-ed? Let's go malling. Let's go to the gym. Do you like swimming? How about a walk in the park? What did you do at work today? Do you feel that your career is progressing? Met any new people? Were they nice? Don't give up - you'll find your person. You'll find your persons! What can I do to make you happier? I love you, but I'm married to work. I am my work. You, will find your person. And maybe I'll find one too.

An Informatical Account of "stimming"

Sometimes, one just has to turn up the Sensory Nervous System stimuli, in order to up-volt "VBLANK" in short-term memory. If buffers can't mutate quickly enough to keep up with target APM, sometime they just need a little push.

It's also what drives the masses to different forms of on-the-job entertainment, like music, food, ambience, etc.

Industry, and its Machination of Consciousness

Completely bogged down by Linux studies this week. Started at shell syntax because that's the lingua franca. Shell syntax manipulates processes and pipes which are the mechanical substrate - so figuring out the semantics from a character on the screen, to the underlying memory operation led to a study of how shells work in general. Inadvertently, that required a recap of how computers work in general, particularly the graphics stack. I'm drowning, but, if I wasn't, I wouldn't be learning anything then, would I?

Addendum. This workflow is an example of the pattern, that barking up the supply-chain, beginning with the superficial interest of peeps, will usually lead to more important stuff. (1) Computer game technology advancement in the 90s was interesting, superficially because it left less and less to the imagination of the player-user, but on an epoch scale because it demonstrated in stark form the improvements in our ability to mechanically compute conciousness. (2) Hipster food, music, fashion, travel, cars, gadgets, and other epicureanisms may seem to purely be ways for one peep to take money (time) from another, but barking up the supply-chain from the presentation layer, one finds a myriad questions about the structure of the consciousness, and the methods by which one conscious structure is deemed more or less valuable. A flavour grown and a flavour machined, once indistinguishable, come to the same fate.
