Consciousness is Boring

Most people still operate on legacy software, that makes them feel wonderfully emotive about being alive. It's a unimodal distribution of motivation ... it drives the concept of family / friends / nation / in-groups in general ... it drives the concept of self-gratification / preference / identity / emancipation ... among other things ... and it makes people wonder where this feeling comes from. It makes them fear death, and disability, and it motivates them to buy insurance, and medical services. They think to themselves, "there must be a reason for me to feel so motivated," and that's where the romance of spirituality takes over, and mythologies of god and ancestrial legacy become stirring. But the nature of the software itself, if you study it closely, is not particularly complicated. The feelings are not grounded in external objects, except for the object that there is anything which exists at all. Generally this is called the Weak Anthropic Principle. Consciousness, I think, is not more complicated than that. Consciousness is boring.
