It is said that smart people are not heartless, but that is probably an oversimplification. A smart, heartless person is probably not a noticeable nuisance and you would probably think of them as friendly, useful, neighbours - smart people don't fail in politics. That doesn't mean that they actually care about the anxieties of others - cheerfully, they might tell you, they would slit your throat in a heartbeat, should there be sufficient motivation and absence of inhibition, both intrinsic and extrinsic. Most people don't know who the smart, heartless people are. They only complain about the dumb ones
