Religion in Malaysia

In the grand scheme of things, religion is a personal choice about what language to use for describing existence. Existence doesn't change, but everyone has a different set of language for it. In this way, religion ultimately encompasses all momentary aspects of daily life and personal identity ... gender, sex, race, tribe, profession, hobbies, etc.

But in Malaysia, we must be careful because religion is politicised, and executive policies about "what is and is not religion" is left to bureaucrats and vote-seekers. Freedom of religion on paper at JPN is limited to what ... a handful of labels. How foolish we are.

2025-06-25 : JPN, the National Registration Department of Malaysia, should tighten up its operations.

  • 1. Every citizen is tagged to a specific religion. ( Acceptable, some fall under religious laws. )
  • 2. The taggable religions are only a few! ( Acceptable, the country and its concepts are primitive - it will change over time. )
  • 3. Citizens are forbidden from selecting the existing option of "no religion". ( Acceptable ... due to you know, unresolved legal rulings at the federal level. )
  • 4. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS : Inconsistent executive policy at different offices of the JPN between East and West Malaysia, where in East Malaysia, the allowances of some of the above are relaxed, or contradictory with the West Malaysian policy.
