Zero-waste Specialty Coffee Storage

Anyone consuming third-wave coffee beans? For those unfamiliar with the product, it typically moves around in 1kg air-tight bags [packed in a vacuum, or flushed with non-oxygen gas]. Once you pop an air-seal, the product decays by the hour.

Anyone using [a zero-waste packaging system for roasted coffee] AND [buying batches of coffee in 10kg volumes]?

So far here are the options I've determined:

- get giant 40 litre air-tight containers for each batch: coffee will stale fast

- get a dozen 2 litre air-tight containers: you end up with a lot of glass mason jars or metal cans lying around

Remaining concerns: vacuum packing machines upstream need to be remodelled to accommodate special storage containers.

Update: glass has been ruled out for light contamination. So it's definitely metal [or plastic boxes] with rubber gaskets, and that means the product needs to have replaceable gaskets. So far I think there's space on the market for a new product, because no one's attacking it :)

Civil discussions with colleagues (on sheer disagreements in operating policy), contrasted sharply with a first date that surveyed (corporate finance), (management of stakeholders subject to deepset fear of abandonment), (endo), (nitro), and sufficient trust to share bodies in public. Oh my heart, I cannot. You could view this as an environment of good fortune, where everything is peachy, except when it is not.

Concepts: MBTI vs Computation

Rehashed some old thoughts in a Facebook comment:

The MBTI model maps quite nicely to two concepts in computation - "data" versus "operations on data".

The Perceiving pair of functions [Sensing / Intuition] regards the data structure that a mind prefers to use in thought: does the structure contain dense sensory/concrete data ("more S"), or is it sparse, and relatively abstract ("more N")?

The Judging pair of functions [Thinking / Feeling] regards operations on those data structures: are there many iterations of operation on a data set, which work towards some kind of optimisation target ("more T"), or are there few iterations/less mutation ("more F")?

This is a brief introduction to my view on how MBTI is supposed to work, given my interest in information systems. The mapping as above is of course, imperfect, and needs to be fleshed out a bit with notions of emotional experience which the F is supposed to stand for - my approach simply makes no difference between emotion and thought, referring to "emotional" people as preferring to iterate less on their data.
