Based on the response, to evaluate risk of further questions or propositions.

You are simply learning the API. I am certainly not intentionally pleasant to talk to, unless provided with clear incentives.
Perhaps you have been in a bubble of people who assume your protocol? Why would you assume that treating anyone else as a search engine is pleasant for them? Lol. Guessing games will lead you to a high failure rate. Gambling is not advised

If you want to determine interest in conversation, simply say, "I am interested in a conversation at time x place y topic t for duration d" or such, then it is possible to receive an explicit response.
if x y t d : are not scoped to the convenience or prejudiced preference of the recipient (which you may determine via research) why would anyone presume the recipient would entertain the request 🤣??
