People often discuss the coefficiency of harder structure (law, workflows/ techniques, and technology) and softer structure (emotions, culture, politics).
Due to the dominance of softness in the human substrate, to this day, it is generally the case that control over soft factors has 2x-4x the influence upon business outcomes than control over hard factors. In minority environments, the ratio drops to 1x-2x, and in very rare cases it drops below 1x.
The quality of processes, hardware, and law can be exquisite, and yet thereafter be ignored due to control over narratives and handshakes.

Due to my early development, I have rarely doubted my capability to manage soft factors. So most of my adult life has been about developing control over hard factors, which I did not get to do as a younger person.
