Malays writing about Malay perspectives in English media, typically come off as psy-ops to placate the Anglosphere, and to derisk everyone's sense of how dangerous existing cultural differences are.
The converse is probably true, such that non-Malays writing about Malay perspectives in Malay, will also tend to come off as as odd.
